Earlier today, Erlanger Baroness Hospital worked alongside the Chattanooga Fire Department and emergency responders during a precautionary hazmat response related to injuries from an industrial accident in Bradley County involving a lithium battery explosion.

We’re grateful for the quick action and collaboration of all teams involved to help ensure the safety of our patients, staff, and community while caring for those injured.

“Today, a K-9 injured in the line of duty gets the same urgency as any first responder.”

This morning, we heard K-9 Luca’s story from his handler, Det. Steven Smith, after new Tennessee legislation passed allowing injured K-9 officers to receive emergency transport via ambulance or helicopter to the nearest veterinary hospital.

What could have taken hours took only minutes thanks to the K-9 Transport Program, marking K-9 Luca’s transport the first one since the program launched.

“We aren’t just transporting a dog. We are transporting their partner, a family member,” said Stacy Prater with LIFE FORCE.

We’re excited to announce a recent Daisy Award Winner, Abby Bayles! 🌼🌼🌼

Abby is a Registered Nurse in the Surgical ICU at Erlanger Baroness Hospital, where she cared for a patient after a motorcycle accident. The patient’s spouse shared these words in their nomination:

“From the first time Abby walked into my husband’s room, I knew she was different. She didn’t just walk in, do her job, and leave – she treated him with dignity, explained every step to him even when he couldn’t respond, and spoke to him like he was still fully present, because to her, he was. ... Through every high and low, Abby has been steady, calm, and kind. She is the definition of a great nurse – she has the skill, the personality, and the bedside manner that makes you feel truly cared for. Having her as part of his care team made this road so much less scary. She’s given us hope, peace, and a feeling that we are not alone in this. I truly cannot think of anyone more deserving of the DAISY Award.” Congratulations, Abby! 👏
