💜 Ashwood Square is Walking to End Alzheimer’s! 💜

The Alzheimer’s Association is hosting its annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s on
📅 Saturday, October 25th at Heritage Park in Chattanooga, TN — and Ashwood Square is proud to take part in this meaningful cause.

🏃‍♀️ Residents are encouraged to join our walking team and help raise awareness and funds for the nearly 7 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s.

🚐 The AWS Shuttle Bus will be available for transportation to Heritage Park.
Seats are limited – so be sure to sign up early!
📍 Sign-up sheet is located in the Communications Room.

🕖 Important Details:
• Bus departs AWS at 7:30 AM
• Check-in begins at 8:00 AM
• Promise Garden Ceremony at 9:00 AM
• Walk to follow immediately after

We’re excited to announce that Ashwood Square is planning to host it’s very own Craft Fair!!!! We are shooting for Saturday, October 18th, 2025 – right here at Ashwood Square! 🛍️🍂

You can now reserve a space with a table provided – completely FREE!
🗓️ Deadline to sign up as a resident vendor: August 1st
📍 Sign-up sheets are available now in the AWS Communication Center

Vendor sign-up for non-residents opens August 4th for a small fee.

Honoring the Fallen Five 10th Anniversary: Reflections on the Terrorist Attack of January 16, 2015 (Chattanooga, TN).

Last week marked ten years since the tragic terrorist attack at the military recruiting site and Naval Operations Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
In remembrance of this solemn occasion, Ashwood Square residents Admiral Vance and Charlynne Fry made a heartfelt request to honor the lives lost. They titled this moment of reflection:

"Honoring the Fallen Five 10 Year Anniversary: Reflections on the Terrorist Attack of January 16, 2015 (Chattanooga, TN)."
We will never forget the bravery and sacrifice of the Fallen Five:

1. Sergeant Carson Holmquist
2. Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Sullivan
3. Staff Sergeant David Wyatt
4. Lance Corporal Skip Wells
5. Petty Officer Second Class Randall Smith

We also extend our deepest gratitude to the law enforcement officers and first responders who, on that day, courageously rushed toward the danger to protect others.

May their service and sacrifice always be remembered, and may they remain in our hearts and prayers.

Special thanks to Retired Commander Tim White and his wife, Franicia White, for sharing their personal experience and life’s journey with our community on this deeply reflective day. Your words and presence made a lasting impact.

Last night, our residents gathered for a fun-filled evening of Bingo, and what a night it was! 🏆✨

AS huge thank you to Marc Schmidt with Hallmark Homecare for sponsoring the event — your support helped make it a memorable evening for everyone!
Winners walked away with fantastic gift cards to some favorite spots including Panera Bread, Red Lobster, Texas Roadhouse, and Outback Steakhouse! 🍽️🎁

🍷 Wine, Laughter, and Great Company at Ashwood Square! 🍷

Residents at Ashwood Square enjoyed a delightful experience during our Wine Tasting with Managers event! From rich reds to crisp whites, each wine was thoughtfully selected and paired with delicious, homemade snacks prepared by our very own managers. 🧀🥖

The room was filled with laughter, lively conversations, and entertaining (even educational!) discussions about the unique wine selections. It was truly an afternoon to remember!

We were honored to welcome Lorena Cavanaugh, Community Outreach Coordinator with Signal Centers, to Ashwood Square this week! Lorena gave an insightful and eye-opening presentation to help prepare us for the upcoming Mobile Hearing Health Care Event later this month.

👏 Big shout-out to the 14 residents who attended—you made this an engaging and meaningful session! We learned that hearing loss isn’t just about volume—it can contribute to falls, Alzheimer’s, and more. It's especially common in those with diabetes, smokers, and people living with tinnitus.

📅 Join us on July 24th as Lorena and her team of licensed audiologists return to Ashwood Square to offer:
