Seasonal Affective Disorder:
What It Feels Like:
SAD is a type of depression that comes and goes with the seasons, usually hitting hardest in the darker months of fall and winter.
Emotional Struggles:
It can feel like a constant low mood, low energy, and a lack of motivation to do things you’d normally enjoy, making even simple tasks feel overwhelming.
Why It Happens:
With less sunlight in winter, our bodies can get out of sync, which messes with our mood and energy levels, often leading to that heavy, drained feeling.
Who It Affects:
SAD is more common in places with long, dark winters and can be more likely if depression runs in your family, making it feel like a struggle year after year.
Ways to Feel Better:
Treatments like light therapy, counseling, and making small lifestyle changes—like going outside more often—can make a real difference, helping bring back some light during those tough months.
