What began as a minor Jet Ski accident left 13-year-old Jada Defoor with a compressed spinal cord, requiring emergency spinal fusion surgery.
Despite years of rehabilitation, her pain worsened. She began falling frequently and eventually couldn’t lift her arms. Imaging showed the vertebrae around her fusion were damaging her spinal cord, leading to a second, more extensive surgery.
This time, doctors recommended inpatient rehabilitation at Siskin Hospital—a turning point in Jada’s journey. Though warned she might never walk normally or run again, her determination combined with compassionate care led to remarkable progress in her gait and quality of life.
Now a recent high school graduate, Jada is heading to the mission field—a lifelong dream made possible by the care she received at Siskin Hospital. ✈️ 🚶♀️
