Did you know that your annual wellness visit shouldn't just be a follow-up appointment that happens to be done once a year?

eVillageHealth's annual wellness program is a comprehensive visit that covers many essential screenings, including*: cardiovascular, lung/breast/prostate/colon/cervical cancer, immunizations, thyroid health, hypertension, viral diseases, and more. Personalized recommendations for overall health and wellness are also provided. We believe that early detection and prevention are key, which is why we are such huge advocates of scheduling an annual wellness exam. Have you had yours this year?

*Screenings vary based on age and gender.

We know this is all too common in the healthcare field which is why we offer same day urgent care visits and routine follow-up appointments within a week. Our goal is always to see you in a timely manner when you need it most. As a smaller office, we even have a few week wait to establish care as a new patient versus 6+ months elsewhere. To schedule an appointment for whatever your need is, give us a call at 509-960-6527. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Joy is on the walking pad every day. It must be broken because she's not losing any weight. 🤣 If you can relate and are feeling a little discouraged, some helpful tips for losing weight with walking are to walk at a brisk pace, walk 30 minutes five days a week, and walk on an incline when possible.

As a telehealth office, we ask our patients to have a full set of vitals at each visit. If you have never taken a blood pressure, it's easy to do. We recommend the OMRON Bronze cuff for a standard size or the ALPHAGOMED 21-inch cuff for an XL size.

To take your blood pressure:
-Position the cuff: Place the cuff around your upper arm, about half an inch above your elbow. The air hose should go down the inner fold of your elbow, towards your palm.
-Tighten the cuff: Tighten the cuff until you can fit two fingers between it and your arm.
-Sit upright: Sit with your back straight, feet flat on the floor, and your arm resting on a table at heart level.
-Relax: Try to relax and avoid moving your arm.
-Press start: Press the start button on the monitor.
-Wait for the reading: The cuff will inflate and then slowly deflate to provide a reading.
-Record your reading: Note your blood pressure reading.

If participating in the V-Healthy Program, this video will provide the guidelines to successfully measure and record the blood pressure and pulse of an adult...

ER vs. Urgent Care - urgent care is great for something you would normally feel comfortable addressing with your primary care provider. A medical condition that may require rapid or advanced treatments, including surgery, that are only available in a hospital setting are great things to be seen at the ER. Just a few examples are listed here. If you're unsure which is the best fit for your situation, you can always give us a call at 509-960-6527. If it's an urgent care situation, we will do our best to fit you in the same day for an appointment. If Jessica recommends the ER, she can call ahead to the charge nurse to give them a head's up.

If you find yourself struggling to be motivated to do cardio, finding a place with a great view to go for a walk can be really motivating. Not only do you get to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the PNW, but cardio has so many other benefits, including heart health, improved sleep, improved energy levels, weight management, stress management, and so much more! Here's my favorite view to enjoy on my walks. What's yours?

Did you know the second Friday in January is called Quitter’s Day because over 80% of people who set New Year’s resolutions have given them up by this date?

This is usually because our resolutions are too lofty and vague. My suggestion as you tackle your health goals this year is to start with your priority goal and make it realistic and measurable. For instance, if you want to start exercising, you may set a goal of walking for 10 minutes every day at a particular time. If it’s first thing in the morning, put your walking clothes next to the bed, and when you wake up in the morning, roll over, throw them on, and head out the door. Then, you can build on that habit and add on additional habits once this one is created.
