We are growing! We have hired two additions to the Riverside PT team, Liz Dudenhofer and Gale Anderson, who bring years of experience to our community. They have both worked in the area, at Mt. Spokane PT and we are happy they moved North with us!

Gale grew up in Chewelah, Washington and has lived in the pacific northwest most of his life. He played many sports in high school and played basketball in college. His area of expertise is manual therapy and he became an Orthopedic Certified Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association in 1996. In 2002, Gale obtained the designation as Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Physical Therapy. Gale has spent many years perfecting his craft and sharing his knowledge with other therapists and students. When not working, Gale enjoys cycling, wood working, traveling and spending time with his family.

Liz moved to north Spokane in 2001 and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2012 from A.T. Still University. In 2016, she had the opportunity to work with the Gonzaga University Student-Athlete Health and Wellness team. She loves to work with patients of all ages using her certifications in Manual Therapy, Coaching, Strength and Conditioning, the Functional Movements systems, Myofsacial Release and Concussion management.
When she’s not working, you can find her (gravel) cycling, especially in the National Parks, playing pickle ball, watching local sports teams, and finding new locations in the area for hiking and remote camping. She currently lives in Mead with her husband, two "bonus" kids, and two (rescue) dogs.

🔈 PROPRIOCEPTION 🔈

Physiologically, posture and balance are a result of the interaction of a number of sensory feedbacks and the resulting muscular responses. This sensory feedback comes from proprioceptors. The proprioceptors detect any changes in movement or position and any changes in tension, or force, within the body. They are found in all nerve endings of the joints, muscles, and tendons.

1. Pressure sensors in the soles of the feet and proprioceptors in the ankle joints detect the proportion of weight distributed between left and right and between the balls and heels of the feet.

2. The vestibular apparatus of the ears can detect any change in equilibrium, even before it occurs, and send messages to the brain.

3. The eyes detect a level horizon and feedback to the brain causes postural adjustment to try to keep the eyes parallel with that horizon.

4. Neurological structures in muscle and tendon tissue (the muscle spindles and Golgi tendon organs - which are also types of proprioceptors) detect changes in muscle tensions and the rate of that change.
