"Chebeague Marine 1 is back in service "

It was a busy morning here at CTC! On one of our morning trips, the Independence had a mechanical failure due to debris in the propeller. The ferry was manuvered into the Cousins Island float safely and everyone was able to get to the mainland.

We want to thank EVERYONE who helped out during the event. Our crew, with the help of some very helpful passengers, worked to keep the ferry safe. Several Islanders ran personal boats to get people back and forth, just to help. We only missed 1.5 scheduled trips thanks to Fogg's Water Taxi & Charters who hopped in their boat and headed right to Chebeague. Zack from Nereus Divers (he has dove on on our boats several times in the past, great guy!) was able to get the chain out of the propeller. Determination Marine LLC was on standby to help get the ferry up the river. Now, the Independence is hauled out at Royal River Boat - Boatyard & Boat Repair . They jumped into action to make sure the Islander was in the water and hauled the Independence at a moment's notice. We did get in touch with the Coast Guard, who also helped out and checked on us. Management was busy today, but got it done!

The Islander will be filling in and running a normal ferry schedule the rest of today.

It takes a village.

I mean "it takes an island".
