An independent funeral home in Chelsea, MI, our mission is to meet your needs whatever they may be. We provide a wide range of services, from sitting down with you to discuss future needs to grief counseling after the death of a loved one. Our funeral home was founded in 1898, and was purchased by Donald Cole in 1977. His son, Allen, bought the funeral home from his father in 1999, continuing the tradition of service to the Chelsea area. We know that making funeral arrangements can be difficult, so let us help you every step of the way. We have a professional staff equipped with many resources that can provide assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Dr. Ross DesBrisay Margeson, formerly of Ann Arbor, a Chelsea resident of 10 years passed away at age 100 on August 11, 2025, after a 4 year battle with old age. He said that growing old didn’t “get difficult until 96.” He lived a long, full life and died peacefully with family around him. Rose Marie Williams of Jackson, Michigan, formerly of Kalamazoo, age 61, passed away, Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in Jackson, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of Ferris Richard and Shirley Ann (Phillips) Blett. Rose graduated from Harper Creek High School in Battle Creek through their Special Education Program in 1982. Family and friends were her life. Rose was happy go lucky and enjoyed crocheting, coloring, and plastic arts. She is survived by her mother, Shirley Westphal of Grass Lake; sister, Teka (Daniel) Ruhlig of Chelsea; brothers, John (Cheri) Gundrum of Union City, and Randy Hamilton of Phoenix, Arizona; stepsister, Karen Owens of Coldwater; nieces and nephews, Felicity (Joey) Conell, Danyal Gundrum, John (Alyssa) Gundrum Jr., Franklin (Jessica) Hayworth, Heather Hayworth, Tiffany Langdon; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Janet Mae Pinard (Jan), of Ann Arbor, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Jackson County Medical Care Facility. Jan was the daughter of William Robert and Adriana Cora (Schippers) Cunningham. Jan’s sister, Betty, preceded her in death. Jan moved to Jackson, Michigan where she married and raised nine children: William (Barbara); Christine Donovan (Tom); Patricia Miller (Tim); Susan Boland, deceased; Mary Jo Beach (Don); Thomas (Shelby); James (Vikki); Richard and Steven (Donna McDonald). Once her children launched, Jan relocated to Ann Arbor. She worked as receptionist at Leland & Fleming, gynecology and obstetrics office, and remained a friend of Charlie and Mary Ann Leland, long after retirement. Lawana Hilton Jackson of Chelsea, formerly of Rockport, Texas, age 87, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Silver Maples of Chelsea. She was the daughter of Rose Elric and Maggie Lena (Mize) Hilburn. She was a graduate of Lubbock High School and a member of the Methodist Church. On February 16, 1996, Lawana married Richard Jackson in Irving, Texas. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2009. Lawana is survived by her son, James (Molly) Hilton of Dexter. Mary Ann Heard of Hillsdale, formerly of Chelsea, age 93, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Country Living of Hillsdale. She was the daughter of Walter Heinrich and Mary (Kivett) Schrader. Mary Ann graduated from Chelsea High School in 1950. She was a homemaker, a devoted wife, and loving mother all her life. Mary Ann worked as a home health aide for a short time, and was also a 4H Leader in Chelsea. She found great joy in serving the Lord through Christian ministry. Mary Ann was active in her church, which included teaching Sunday school classes and hosting many Bible studies in her home. She and her husband, Charles, also helped plant a church in Vernon, Michigan. For the last 27 years, Mary Ann was a member of the Hillsdale First Baptist Church. Mary Ann married Charles Roy Heard on July 24, 1976, and he preceded her in death on October 21, 1994. She is survived by her children, John (Donna) Lantis of Graham, Washington, Joseph (Sandra) Lantis of Chelsea, James Lantis of Guntersville, Alabama, Jane (Charles) Moore of Somerset, and Jeffrey (Kelly) Lantis of Hillsdale; and son-in-law, Terry Salter of Chelsea.
