One of our crew members this year is also a talented yoga teacher! She’ll be teaching a by-donation yoga class for farmers and gardeners (and everyone) every Friday (weather dependent) through the summer!

The class will be hosted outdoor on our farm with an amazing view of the village and surrounding hills. Come relax, get stretchy, get centered, and get inspired (and you can say hi to the herbs and the cows as well)!

Today is the last day to submit 2025 bulk herb pre-orders. We grow and wildharvest around 100 different certified organic herbs and dry them on our sun-powered herb drying barn. While you can order herbs from us any time of year, pre-orders help us plan and allow you to get first dibs of our harvests from the upcoming season.

While we’re deep in winter and thinking about the warm, sunny days on the hill to come. We’re also continuing to seek out ways to stay informed, engaged, and grounded with our community as the winds of change swirl around us.

We’re very excited to share the release our newest spice offerings: coriander & fennel seed! As you may know, we’ve offered cilantro leaf and fennel leaf for years, but it’s taken some experimentation over several years for us to produce these spices from those same plants.

We’re so pleased with these harvests and think you’ll be surprised at how aromatic, flavorful, and colorful these spices are — especially compared with what you usually find at a store. Visit to try some or look for it soon at retailers near you!

The winter times have arrived. As we sit here on the hill, tea in hand and mulling over plans for the season to come, we are filled with great gratitude for the season that was — from the generosity of the land, to the dedication of our farm crew, to the many folks who have supported us and uplifted us in countless ways — we give thanks.

This past season marked our tenth on this land and with each passing cycle of the year we feel more grounded in this place and in this community. We are strengthened and encouraged by the relationships we help to cultivate between people & each other, and people & the plants.

We wish you all a restorative winter, and we look forward to continuing to share the abundance of this land with you in the year to come. If you’re still looking for some herbs this winter — we’ve still got it! If you’re interested in joining our farm team this summer — applications are still open.

Join Us In the Field

Join our crew of hard-working,
herb-loving farmers this season!

Field crew positions at Free Verse Farm provide the opportunity to experience first-hand what it takes to cultivate, tend, dry, and process a wide range of culinary, medicinal, and tea herbs on a small organic hill farm in rural Vermont.

This outdoor work is rigorous and joyful, and we take no moment of it for granted. Our farm is largely people-powered, and we care deeply about cultivating healthy soils and a healthy workplace.

If you've always wanted to learn more about the life cycle of herbs, we invite you to apply! Applications are open until the positions are filled. We look forward to hearing from you!

The ideal field crew member:

🌱 Is a hard worker who enjoys manual labor
🌱 Is flexible, patient, and is detail-oriented
🌱 Is comfortable working alone, as well as in a group
🌱 Has a positive attitude and a team mentality
🌱 Has a dedicated interest in farming and/or herbs
🌱 Has previous farming experience (not required, but strongly recommended)
🌱 Likes being outdoors in all weather
🌱 Has a thirst to learn more about growing food & medicine for our community in Vermont
