Our residents set sail for adventure today as we kicked off Pirate Day with our passport game! Everyone discovered their very own pirate name — and the laughter alone was worth its weight in gold.

From there, residents traveled to four Ports of Call, collecting stickers along the way to earn a special treasure at the end of the day. The morning was packed with swashbuckling fun, including our fishing game and the crowd-favorite Sea Serpent Challenge — where participants raced to pull a roll of “sea serpent” (a.k.a. toilet paper!) all the way to the finish.

Our staff joined in, too, with an Employee Treasure Hunt, searching high and low for hidden rubies throughout the building. The competition was fierce… and very pirate-like!

Lunch featured a delicious pirate-themed feast of fish and chips inspired by the shores of the Yucatan Peninsula — a hearty meal fit for any hungry buccaneer.

The highlight of the afternoon was a visit from the Real Pirates of Salem Museum, where residents met Captain “Black Sam” Bellamy himself. He shared stories from his life on the high seas and even brought real artifacts — a cannonball, 300-year-old coins, a shark’s tooth, and more. Truly unforgettable!

It was a day full of adventure, learning, and plenty of smiles.
Until our next voyage… fair winds, mateys!

What a sweet way to return to work after Thanksgiving, a friendly Employee Bake-Off!

Our talented team brought in their family-favorite desserts, and the competition was definitely on. After all… we clearly didn’t get enough dessert on Thanksgiving!

A huge congratulations to Shellie, who took home the winning spatula with her mom’s Elegant Party Cake. Absolutely scrumptious!

Thank you to all our amazing employees who baked, shared, and made the day extra delicious.

At Chelsea Jewish Lifecare, Thanksgiving is a moment to celebrate the heart of our communities: the connection, compassion, and everyday moments that bring us together. Whether it’s a shared laugh in a dining room, a warm greeting in the hallway, or a quiet act of kindness between staff and residents — these are the things we’re grateful for.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our residents for filling our campuses with meaning and joy, to our families for their unwavering support, and to our extraordinary staff whose dedication makes a difference in countless ways.

Wishing you and your loved ones a Thanksgiving filled with warmth, gratitude, and peace

A Leaf of Gratitude

At the Brudnick Center for Living, each floor now has its very own Thankful Tree — a special place where residents, staff, and visitors can write what they’re grateful for on a leaf and add it to the display.

These trees are already filling up with heartfelt messages, shared memories, and little reminders of what truly matters.

Together, we’re growing gratitude—one leaf at a time.

We kicked off a thankful celebration with our Gratitude Tree, where everyone wrote down what they were thankful for.

This was followed by an energetic Alan Labella dance party! With the help of the Everett High School seniors, we danced, laughed, and truly enjoyed the moment together.

To top it all off, we ended the day with delicious apple pie and ice cream.
A perfect way to celebrate gratitude and community!

LeadingAge Session Led by Barry Berman and Betsy Mullen Recognized Nationally!
Earlier this week Chelsea Jewish Lifecare CEO Barry Berman and COO Betsy Mullen presented a session at the LeadingAge Annual conference. More than 6,000 aging services professionals from 20+ countries came together to learn, connect, and create a lasting impact.
Mr. Berman’s and Mrs. Mullen’s session, aptly entitled Easily Implemented Strategies for Recruitment and Retention of a Healthcare Workforce, addressed the innovative strategies for staff recruitment as well as the organization’s creative programs for retaining staff on a long-term basis. Their presentation was extremely well-received. As a result, McKnight's Senior Living published an article about their session the day after the conference!
Please click on this link to read the story. It’s a wonderful tribute to the innovative practices in place at Chelsea Jewish Lifecare!

With 1,800 employees across four campuses, Chelsea Jewish Life currently has about 40 listed job openings — a low 2% vacancy rate many skilled nursing providers can only dream of in the current market.

What a wonderful way to start November!

We celebrated the beauty of fall by picking dried leaves and creating our own autumn art.

Residents taped their leaves on paper, traced them, and added color using bingo dotters.

The results turned out bright, cheerful, and perfect for seasonal decorations!

Happy Fall Y’all!

Celebrating Sukkot Together - Community, Joy, and Tradition

Last week, we gathered with staff and residents to celebrate the beautiful festival of Sukkot — a time of joy, reflection, and unity. Under the sukkah, we shared stories, songs, and meals, embracing the spirit of togetherness that makes this holiday so special.

One of the highlights was the opportunity for everyone to take part in the mitzvah of waving the lulav and etrog — a tradition symbolizing harmony and gratitude. Residents and staff came together to learn, connect, and experience the deeper meaning behind these special rituals.

From decorating the sukkah to sharing laughs over festive treats, the atmosphere was filled with warmth and community.
