I believe that when people seek counseling it is because they want to make a change in their lives. They may want to improve a life situation, make a decision, solve a problem or have greater understanding and insight to their lives. Counseling is not always easy; just as change is not always easy. It is a process of looking at and integrating thoughts, feelings and actions in a safe environment. It is not my job to tell you how or when to change, but rather to guide you to find what works best for you. As a client you have the right to ask me questions about my qualifications, background, and therapeutic orientation. You will be actively involved in designing your counseling goals and may at any time ask for clarification about what we discuss. I believe that effective counseling requires a commitment of time, energy, and active participation by both client and counselor and often encourage activities and “homework” between scheduled appointments. I specialize in treating children, adolescents and adults with anxiety, stress, anger, depression, family conflict, relationship issues, personal growth, self-esteem, career concerns, and issues of grief and loss. I use an eclectic collection of theoretical orientations based on the individual needs of the client.
