We have some bad news concerning our CHPW patients. We recently terminated our contract with Molina. VSP services the vision benefits for both Molina and CHPW, and unfortunately, VSP has forced us to terminate the adult vision program through CHPW along with Molina.
We will still be in network for CHPW. We will still be able to see patients with CHPW as long as they are 20 or younger. We will still be able to do Medical exams for both adults and children with CHPW.
As of March 10th, we will no longer be able to do Routine Vision exams or glasses for CHPW members 21 and older.
This was completely unforeseen, and we have been trying for weeks go get things to come to a more favorable outcome. We are sorry for this.

We will be closed on 12/24 through the rest of that week, and reopening on 12/30. We will be open New year's eve, but closed on New year's Day.

After much consideration, we will be making some changes to the insurances we accept for 2025. We have decided to stop accepting Molina. We have accepted them from the beginning of our office and for many years we loved working with them, but we can no longer afford to accept them. We are still going to be in network for Community Health Plan of Washington and WellPoint. If you are on Apple Health and wish to continue to see Dr. Brogholthaus you have the option of changing your coverage to one of them. Here is a link that can help with changing:

We STRONGLY suggest reaching out to any other doctors you see to check if they are in network with CHPW or WellPoint as well. An Eye exam and glasses out of pocket can be a little pricey, but they’re nothing compared to other medical visits out of pocket. Our Out of pocket price for an eye exam is $120, and a basic pair of single vision glasses is $99, so $219 altogether. If you have fancy tastes or more specialized needs in your glasses that price will be higher.

We have also decided to start taking UnitedHealth care Vision. Some of our patients might be confused by this saying, "well don’t they already take UnitedHealth care?"…Yes, yes we do. I have always accepted UHC for medical reasons, but know we will be able to bill for routine vision as well. If you are on a AARP UHC Medicare advantage plan we can now take care of both your medical eye needs, and your regular glasses needs at a much reduced price to you.

We are still in the contracting phase with UHC Vision, but hope to start accepting patients in early January

Most Washington Apple Health (Medicaid) eligible individuals receive their coverage through a managed care plan. Apple Health offers five health plans, for most Apple Health programs. Not all plans are available in all areas.
