Chinook Place Assisted Living and Memory Care, Madras OR had some visitors with the National Junior Honor Society Students from the Jefferson County Middle School. .

Students organized a bingo game and gave out candy bars as prizes. 🍫 They also shared lunch with residents which allowed them to sit down and talk and connect with them. 🤲🏼

Students set a goal to make a new friend and were challenged to bring back one piece of advice from that person. The advice they shared afterward was both funny and thoughtful, making the experience memorable for everyone. 🙌🏼

It was a great field trip that built empathy and community!

Today was one for the books! 🚌💛
Our residents took a fun-filled bus ride out to an alpaca farm, and let me tell you—it was smiles from start to finish! From the moment we hit the road, there was laughter, stories being shared, and lots of excitement in the air.
Getting up close with the baby alpaca was such a special experience its gentle nature and curious personality brought so much joy to everyone. You could see the happiness on our residents’ faces as they petted the baby alpaca.
Moments like these are what it’s all about—creating memories, enjoying the little things, and sharing new experiences together. 🦙✨

From laughs over the tough questions to those “I knew that!” moments, today was full of fun, connection, and a little friendly competition. It’s amazing to see the knowledge, memories, and teamwork shine through every round.

There’s something so special about our residents eating together family style ❤️
helping one another, laughing over a shared lunch— it turns a simple meal into a moment of connection. It’s not just about food… it’s about community.
When they sit together at the table, share stories from “back in the day,”, it feels less like a facility and more like home. And that’s the goal.
Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. Creating space for dignity, independence, and genuine connection — even in the smallest routines — makes all the difference.

🌟Employee Spotlight #1: Cecilia Ramirez!

What started as a summer job became her lifelong passion. 🙌🏻

Meet Ceci Ramirez, Lead Medication Aide at Chinook Place and Spotlight #1 of our 2025 Spotlight Crew!

“So let me start off by saying that working in long-term care has been such a rewarding job.

I have worked in this field since 2007, fresh out of high school. What was supposed to be a summer job has turned into my lifelong passion.

I took a small break and felt like something in my life was missing. It was caring for others. So I returned to caregiving.

I find joy in coming into work every day, making someone’s day by being kind, joyful, and sometimes even funny or silly to get a resident to laugh.

Giving my undivided attention, listening to anything they want to discuss, and helping in any way I can is what it is all about for me.

This line of work has taught me so much in life. I use my skills not only at work, but in everyday life. Connecting with families is also such a blessing.

I find such pride in my role at Chinook Place. I have made such great relationships here and look forward to coming into work every day.

As soon as I walk into the facility, the outside world is left behind and I am home.”

Today we are proud to highlight Tia Cree, Lead Medication Aide at Chinook Place!

Tia shared the heart behind why she chose to work in long-term care, and we think it's beautiful:

“I chose to go into long-term care because I’ve always felt a deep calling to care for my elders, especially those who may not always have a strong voice of their own. I truly enjoy building connections with the residents I care for. In long-term care, you don’t just care for someone’s physical needs, you become part of their daily lives, their routines, and even their families.

I love the chance to truly get to know each resident, listen to their stories, and bring comfort, dignity, and joy into their days. It’s not always easy, but it’s meaningful work, and I feel grateful to be able to give back in such a personal and lasting way.

Knowing I can make someone feel valued and supported each day is what makes this work so rewarding to me.”
