Dr. Carmaleta Monteith has dedicated her life to supporting the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. She is an EBCI Beloved Woman, the highest honor a Cherokee woman can receive for exemplifying Cherokee core values. After a career in education, she became a founding board member of the Cherokee Indian Hospital Foundation and has remained a tireless advocate for her community.

Dr. Carmaleta Monteith shares her vision for the Cherokee Hospital Foundation endowment, managed by NCCF to support staff education.

The Cherokee Indian Hospital Foundation's mission is simple but powerful: to remove barriers, support innovation, and provide resources that ensure the patients we serve have access to the very best care possible. Every dollar given to the Foundation stays right here, funding programs, equipment, and services that make a direct difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

Whether it’s funding wellness programs, or supporting initiatives that preserve and honor Cherokee culture in healthcare, your generosity fuels our ability to go beyond what’s possible.

On National Nonprofit Day, we want to say thank you — to our donors, our partners, and our community — for believing in our mission and helping us create healthier futures for the next seven generations.

Proud of our Co-Chair Maggie Jackson! Tune in to hear from her next Tuesday.

We are honored to see Maggie’s voice and leadership uplifted in this important conversation, and we invite you to tune in and support.

We were proud to sponsor a team of CIHA staff last night in the Midnight Rumble Classic fundraiser to raise money for the Special Olympics and the Cancer Support Group! Not only did they raise money for these awesome causes, they did so while raising awareness on the importance of recovery efforts.
