We recently took delivery of new Hamilton T1 ventilators. Our crews then completed some device specific training and had a good mechanical ventilation review. These ventilators are the best on the market and greatly improve our crews ability to manage critical patients.

Today we laid to rest a great friend, provider, and community servant, James Fischer or Buddy He started his service at Cherokee FD in 1982. Buddy continued his public service caring for his community members as a paramedic starting in 1993. Buddy retired in 2009. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew him, but it can be promised that his memories will carry on through the many lives he has touched.

Determining which patients have intracerebral hemorrhage before they get to the hospital would allow them to be routed directly to a more advanced hospital with the capability to treat stroke patients, even if it isn’t the closest.

Cherokee Tribal EMS completed training this week to participate in a research trial with Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Crews will be testing the ability to do cranial ultrasounds to detect brain bleeds. CUPID_EMS (Cranial Ultrasound POCUS for ICH Detection) is now live and will hopefully make great changes in rural healthcare.

We were very fortunate to have Daniel come up and visit our service a few weeks ago. He is doing great work bringing awareness to First Responder mental health. Thank you to Dansun and all of our staff for everything they do.

There's lots of EMS tech in this image that wasn't around when I first started, but one thing that's always been there. A big thanks to Cherokee Tribal EMS in North Carolina for helping me with this one.

Have a safe weekend everyone,

DanSun

We are above and beyond proud of Bubba for taking part in the ride. We wish him and all the other riders a safe trip.

Introducing the 2022 team:
Adrian ‘Bubba’ Aguilera, 32
Painttown Community

“I am participating in the RTR ride this year to gain more knowledge about my ancestors and all they endured during the time of the removal. The spiritual connection we’ll experience throughout the ride is another reason I have applied for this ride. We will be challenged physically and mentally during this three week journey. As a RTR 2022 participant, I have excepted these challenges and I am looking forward to all the obstacles we’ll overcome individually and as a team. This will be an educational experience for me as well, allowing me to bring back and share knowledge that some of our communities are unaware of.”
