"Alternative Medicine"
This term has many interpretive meanings. In fact perspective is everything! If one imagines that western medicine is in fact the epitome of medical care, then all other care is Alternative. I have had the opportunity to practice western medicine and Osteopathic medicine and found that both are in fact valid medical practices.

I am sure that a more appropriate term is supplemental medical care. This is not just a label change. Large numbers of individuals use supplemental and western care to great effect!

Can Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment(OMT) impact chronic conditions? OMT will not resolve chronic progressive problems. OMT is helpful for the times when progression leaves one feeling overwhelmed and discouraged. Ones emotions are impacted by progression and the change in ability will cause further imbalance to the system of muscles and joints. There are around 206 joints in the body as an adult. Is getting rid of discomfort and pain a good idea? Medicine does help dull the senses of pain but does nothing to prevent it's reoccurrence. Why should pain relief take up to 3 months or more to achieve? If one can purchase relief what would the cost be?

Medicine in the US is expanding in many ways, The acceptance of many forms of medicine by the public and institutions is increasing. There are investigations in the use of once banned substances being scientifically looked at for medicinal use. This is the usual way of treatment in the US for centuries. The telehealth services has brought care to medical deserts. The public has a hand in this as well.
For hundreds of years the public has used substances that later are investigated for their use medically.
Since the early 1800's bone setters were very common but not medically accepted. Now there are 2 more advanced forms of practice that have been found to have largely been accepted in the fields of medicine. Osteopathy is one of those that has scientific basis. There are an increasing number of conditions that respond favorably to Osteopathic Manipulative medicine. The beauty is that OMT can stand alone and also act favorably with other treatments. What about headaches?
Many individuals suffer from headaches and the lack of control headaches cause. The most common forms of headache are tension type and migraine type.

What causes Headaches?
Too many triggers have been found.

Do headaches respond to the same treatments?
There are a number of treatments that are effective at treating the headaches and some that are able to lessen the number of attacks. Unfortunately, many of the medicines to relieve headache are NSAIDS that if used too frequently can have negative effects on the gastric, cardiac, renal systems that can be serious.
Can Osteopathic Manipulation be used for headache management?
Yes, some people that suffer headaches get relief from OMT.
