They say that spirituality and politics don’t mix. Yet who are they? What do they look like? Who writes the spiritual narrative, the books, the rules? They do! And they also say that spirituality should be based in Truth and the reality of one’s own existence and experience. Well my spiritual experience is that of a Black woman and I know to be born Black is both political and spiritual. My life is both a celebration on life and a war against it.

Make no mistake Black woman! We are at war. A war far deeper than the eyes can see and ears can hear. Don’t get lost in the media’s sensationalized tactics. The latest series of attempts to still your power and brainwash away your uniqueness, to discount your contribution to this undeserving society. It is an old tactic, a mere distraction that you don’t have to explain away. Stay focused, cultivate a single pointed mind and as hard as it may be, maintain a loving heart especially in your home and with your family. Yet continue the fight to not be discredited for you, we, are the backbone of this nation and the world at large. Don’t forget who and what you are.
