Group classes can be great!

I teach them so I am not encouraging you to stop taking them.

I am suggesting there might be a way to get more out of them.

1) Longevity: All modalities have their strengths. They also all fall short to some degree when it comes to being able to exercise, move freely, participate in extra curricular activities and to do daily life activities with ease.

šŸ’„šŸ’„ A fusion approach fits modalities to you, NOT you into a modality. šŸ’„šŸ’„

2) Habitual Movement: We all have movement patterns we adopted because of injury, aches, postures from of modern day life, sports we played etc .... They creep in when we exercise. If you aren't aware of your specific habitual movement patterns they could be showing up in large group classes & you might never know after years & years of exercise.

šŸ’„šŸ’„ Learning what yours are so you can self correct as well as incorporate corrective exercises, will help you get the most out of the classes you are taking.šŸ’„šŸ’„

3) Daily Life: Regardless of how many hours you exercise, it usually is not enough to combat the HOURS we spend in living life. Sitting, driving, device use, sleeping are done hours at a time & can be the biggest culprit of injury, aches & pains.

šŸ’„šŸ’„ Understanding what your hours of the day look like & mini breaks that could support you to combat their negative effects is key to a health & wellness program.šŸ’„šŸ’„

4) Control: Speed, load (weight), stretch, movement patterns done without control is a large contributor to aches, pains, injuries. Most classes aren't really able to consider this for the masses. Not because the instructor is doing anything wrong or doesn't consider them as often as possible. It just not possible to do it for every student during every exercise.

Remember those totally engaging sequences that kept you present and, in the moment, as you moved to music. I pull from these elements as I was THAT instructor in the late 90's.

How about those fun boxing combos in boxing and kickboxing classes? Yep, I was THAT instructor in the early 2000's and I pull from that as well.

How about those perfect yoga classes that flow seamlessly from one posture to the next? Yes, another example of my experience and where I pull from to create a flow-like sequence that is engaging mentally, physically, and perhaps even spiritually.

Think you need a perfect routine to see results?

Like most avenues to success, it starts with a mindset shift.

I know, not the most sexy answer, but it's a real one.

I mean read that quote again. "The most POWERFUL transformation begins when you stop chasing perfection and start embracing progress ..."

Whoa!

Imagine how that one shift in your thinking could change everything when starting or staying consistent with your health goals.

Being a busy woman; purpose-led, purpose-driven, and constantly on the go, fitting in self-care into your already packed schedule is challenging.

The truth is, you don’t need to chase perfection to feel good in your body—you just need to start where you are and take small, intentional steps - consistently and progressively.

Gray hair don't care!

I turn 47 in September.

I haven't died my hair in at least 10 years.

Prior to one last go at it, I hadn't died my hair for 10years.

I have more gray then ever before.

More wrinkles

More sun spots.

Most days I am good with it and see the beauty and privilege it is to continue to age - to be alive.

Some days I look in the mirror and struggle, seeing the changes beginning to occur.

On these days I have to do some work around the old programming the anti- aging industry has ingrained in us.

Thankfully those days are fewer and short lived because of the many women going before me to help change this messaging.

Thankfully those days are fewer because I refuse to fall prey and victim to the messaging that my body is doomed and their is nothing I can do about.

Thankfully those days are fewer because I get to work with women as they age doing things they never thought they could do again or ever.

Thankfully those days are fewer and short lived!

Keep moving. It is medicine to your mind, body, and soul.
