Happy Speech-Language-Hearing Month from the Insight Speech and Swallowing Therapy team! 🧠

These are the clinicians who walk with you after a stroke, help families navigate a dementia diagnosis, and work with you to get your voice back.

If you or someone you love has worked with a speech-language pathologist, this month is a great time to say thank you.

You might notice a new face in this photo. Allie Graham joined us for her final graduate placement and hit the ground running — showing up for our clients with the kind of commitment we look for in every clinician on this team. We love mentoring the next generation of SLPs, and it’s especially exciting when they come back. We’ll be welcoming Allie back this fall as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, and we can’t wait.

If homework battles and forgotten chores are a nightly reality in your house this group was built for your teen.

Our 5-Week Executive Function & Social Skills Summer Camp gives teens ages 13–17 real strategies for getting things done: starting tasks without a meltdown, staying organized, and navigating the social side of school and life.

This isn't a lecture. It's a 60-minute hands-on, collaborative group where teens actually practice the skills and leave with tools they can use that same week.

The group is co-led by two clinicians who bring different and complementary expertise:

🧠 Kelli Humphrey, CCC-SLP works with older teens navigating life transitions- the ones who are almost adults but still figuring out how to manage everything that comes with it.

📚 Ilana Gorelik, CCC-SLP is a school-based SLP who understands firsthand how executive function challenges show up in the classroom and how to address them.

Most people assume memory changes are just part of "getting older."

There's a real difference between normal age-related forgetfulness - occasionally misplacing your keys, taking a moment to recall a name- and cognitive-communication changes that warrant evaluation.

Signs that go beyond typical aging:
Losing track of conversations mid-sentence
Difficulty following multi-step directions
Repeating the same questions within minutes
Struggling to find words more frequently and more noticeably than before

A speech-language pathologist can evaluate cognitive-communication function and help determine whether what you're seeing is age-related or something that benefits from intervention.

If you're noticing changes in a loved one, trust that instinct. An evaluation gives you answers either way!

Have you been told AAC is not for your loved one? We won’t take that as an answer.

We are jumping for joy for a client of ours! It really has been a long time coming. Kayleigh Kmet, M.S. CCC-SLP has been working with this family for a year. There were certainly tears of joy as we finally found the right communication device to give them a voice

We are proud to introduce you to Kelli Humphrey, CCC-SLP. Kelli has officially completed her clinical fellowship hours and is now a certified speech language pathologist! She is experienced in treating our memory and executing function clients. She is also a certified AmpCare provider using this treatment with neurological disorders.

If you are in office this month, congratulate Kelli on her accomplishment of completing 9 months and over 1,260 hours of supervised practice!
