5 Easy Ways to Support Lymphatic Flow (and why!)

But first, whatโ€™s the lymphatic system?

The lymphatic system is a network of vessels, nodes, and organs that helps to remove waste and move white blood cells around the body.

It is so closely linked to the immune system that we cannot expect our immune systems to work without healthy lymphatic flow. Hereโ€™s how you can support that:

Movement
Movement activates the skeletal muscles, which is one of the best ways to boost lymphatic flow. Any movement works (a gentle walk, stretching, jumping on a trampoline).

Deep Breathing
Deep belly breathing acts as a natural pump for the lymphatic system by activating the diaphragm and changing the pressure in the abdomen.

Dry Skin Brush
Using a natural bristle brush, brush in gentle, circular motions toward your heart before showering to encourage lymphatic flow.

Contrast Hot-Cold Showers
A perfect follow-up to the dry skin brush, alternating 30-second bursts of cold during your hot shower stimulates lymphatic flow.

Alternate Between Loose & Tight Clothing
Especially around the armpits or groin, where we have a concentration of lymph nodes, tight clothes can restrict the flow. But compression socks or sleeves can be beneficial for a short time!

We believe that living with intention is part of optimal health and that the end of the year can be a reminder to pause and reflect.

What habits did you successfully incorporate into your life?

What challenges did you face? What did you learn about yourself through them?

Was there a time you felt healthiest? What led to that feeling? What helped you? Where there any patterns?

These are questions that we frequently follow up with in the course of a program. Especially if you're not working with a professional, these questions are an invaluable tool to reflect on the last year. It's normally a travel no-no for us, we NEVER visit the same resturant twice! But I was just SO blown away by how amazing this seabass was that I HAD to have it again before we left. This was one of my top dishes from our trip, and it was jam packed with lots of awesome benefits! The olive oil/sun dried tomato/white wine combo was so simple but so flavorful and the seabass literally melted in my mouth.

I genuinely would fly to Italy just to have this again ๐Ÿ˜
