We are excited to announce that Ms. Cook is back AND she will be facilitating a problem gambling therapeutic support group.

We're launching an 8-week therapy group for anyone struggling with gambling—whether it's affecting your finances, relationships, or peace of mind.

What to expect:
✅ Evidence-based strategies (CBT + 12-step principles)
✅ Small, confidential group led by licensed clinicians
✅ Thursdays, 6:00-7:30 PM starting November 6th
✅ Insurance accepted
✅ NJ residents may be eligible for funding through NJ GEARS

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day. We all know someone who has considered su***de (you may even be that person), so it's *essential* that we all know how to assist someone navigating a crisis.

If someone shares suicidal thoughts with you:

👂🏾Listen without judgment and take them seriously
❓Ask directly: "Are you thinking about su***de?"
💜Stay with them or ensure they're not alone
🔗Help connect them to professional support (988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline)
🫶🏾Follow up - check in again

⚠️Warning signs to watch for: Talking about feeling trapped, increased substance use, withdrawal from activities, giving away possessions, or sudden mood changes after a period of depression.

The research is clear: most people who contemplate su***de don't actually want to die - they want their pain to stop. Your response matters.

This is precisely why Mental Health First Aid training exists - to give us all the skills to recognize a crisis and respond effectively. This isn't just a conversation for professionals! Knowing what to say (and what not to say) can LITERALLY save a life.

Let's Talk About Licensure in Therapy 🧠💜
I've been hearing some concerning misconceptions about licensed vs. prelicensed therapists lately, and I think it's time for some clarity.

The reality is that Prelicensed therapists have already completed graduate-level training—at a minimum, a master's degree in their field. They're incredibly skilled, compassionate, and effective clinicians working under supervision (which is actually a strength!). They often bring fresh perspectives and may have specialized training in areas that even seasoned clinicians don't. Additionally, prelicensed therapists are often vital resources in underserved communities, helping to bridge critical gaps in mental health access where fully licensed providers may be scarce.

The bottom line is that both licensed and pre-licensed therapists can provide excellent care. What matters most is finding someone who's a good fit for YOUR needs, whether that's clinical expertise, approach, or simply feeling heard and understood.

Good therapy isn't about the letters after someone's name—it's about the connection, competence, and care they bring to the room.
