💙 VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: MIKE BASS 💙

Mike Bass and his wife, Debbi, have called Cherry Hill home for over four decades. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they began looking for meaningful ways to give back—and Mike found his place at JFCS.

Over the past six years, Mike has contributed nearly 600 volunteer hours at the Betsy & Peter Fischer Food Pantry, serving as both a Food Pantry Helper and Heavy Lifter. Whether it’s unloading trucks, stocking shelves, or preparing food packages, Mike consistently shows up early and ready to do whatever is needed.

His impact goes beyond hands-on work. As a member of the inaugural Rhona Fischer Family Assistance Program Committee, Mike brings thoughtful ideas and a strong commitment to strengthening services for our clients.

Outside of JFCS, Mike is an active Board Member of Kellman Brown Academy and has spent 15 years volunteering with the JCRC’s Esther Raab Holocaust Museum and Goodwin Education Center.

Mike’s dedication to helping others is truly inspiring. Thank you, Mike, for all that you do for JFCS and our community!

On March 26, more than 400 community members lit up Congregation Beth El Voorhees for our annual “Stepping Out” fundraiser! This year’s disco themed celebration sparkled with retro flair–featuring a lively grazing menu, exciting raffles, high-energy entertainment, and an inspiring program that shared powerful, personal stories from clients whose lives have been transformed by JFCS. We are so grateful to everyone who made this fabulous evening possible - our event sponsors, agency sponsors, staff members, Stepping Out committee, and of course, our incredible volunteers! Be sure to save the date for next year's Stepping Out with JFCS: Thursday, April 1, 2027!

What a meaningful day in our community! Yesterday, with the help of 16 incredible volunteers, we delivered 540 Passover meals to 41 client households—ensuring that those who may be unable to cook or celebrate with family can still experience the warmth and tradition of the holiday.

We are deeply grateful to everyone at Temple Beth Sholom, Cherry Hill for opening their doors to us with such generosity and flexibility. Their partnership made it possible to carry out this year's meal distribution seamlessly and with care. A special thank you to volunteer Karla Nuciforo for the beautiful handmade Passover cards—her creativity brought an extra touch of joy to every delivery. To our volunteers and community partners: thank you for showing up, giving back, and making sure that no one feels alone this Passover. Wishing all who celebrate a warm and meaningful holiday - Chag Pesach Sameach!✡️
