Advocare Merchantville Pediatrics We are proud to focus on the health of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.

Advocare Merchantville Pediatrics has been taking care of children and teens in the South Jersey area for over 30 years and recently moved one mile from its prior location in downtown Merchantville to Chapel Avenue in Cherry Hill. We are located in the "golden triangle" of Cherry Hill between Haddonfield Road and Rt. 38. Advocare Merchantville Pediatrics is dedicated to caring for the whole child from infancy through college. The practice provides preventive services including well exams, sports physicals, developmental assessments, exercise and nutritional guidance, as well as screening for emotional, behavioral and educational issues. In addition, their highly experienced physicians are trained to evaluate and manage acute and chronic illnesses.

RSV is one of the most common respiratory infections to cause hospitalization of infants. About 7 of every 10 children will be infected by 1 year of age, and almost all will be infected by 2 years of age. Babies between 6 weeks and 6 months of age are the most likely to be hospitalized. Between 100 and 300 children die each year from RSV and its complications. In children younger than 5 years of age, RSV leads to more than 2 million outpatient visits and between 58,000 and 80,000 hospitalizations.

Fainting (also known as syncope) is common, particularly in teenagers. Though it can be a frightening event, the common faint lasts just seconds and is typically not a sign of a dangerous problem. The bigger concern is avoiding injury during a fall. Knowing the difference between a potentially dangerous faint and the more common, benign faint may seem intimidating, but there are clues that can help guide a family or provider to seek additional help and evaluation. See post for more details!
