Feeling run down or lackluster?

If you’ve been feeling tapped out of energy, you’re not alone. I’m sure you can make a long list of all the things draining your vitality or keeping you from feeling your best. But be careful, running through that list in your head on repeat will become another drain on your energy. Is there a...

Most artificial sweeteners are harmful to your gut health, which affects not only our digestion but all levels of our health, mind, body, and emotions. For a safe, low calorie sweetener that doesn’t cause a blood sugar spike and can actually help your gut, try allulose!

A new study reveals health concerns about the sugar substitute sucralose so alarming that researchers said people should stop eating it and the government should regulate it more.

Given the limitations of the existing data, animal and human studies demonstrated that acupuncture has certain regulatory functions on gastrointestinal motility and gastric acid secretion. Acupuncture promotes gastric peristalsis in subjects with low initial gastric motility and suppresses peristalsis in those with active initial motility. A controlled study also demonstrated that acupuncture reduced basal acid output, as well as sham feeding, stimulated acid output.

A person being treated by a licensed acupuncturist or TCM practitioner will not only notice changes in their digestive issues, but they may also notice changes in their psyche too. And since the mind and body are closely connected, this can be very beneficial for the patient.

15 Easy Ways to Relieve Stress - Free Download

Would you rather be like flexible bamboo that sways in the wind or a gnarly hardened tree whose branches snap off in resistance? I think most people would choose to feel free and easy and go with the flow. This is possible, but it takes commitment to continually return to that state when life pulls you out of it. There are many ways to relieve stress and stay flexible with whatever life throws at you.

I’ve put together a guide with 15 ways to relieve stress that are fun, easy, and free. I’m confident that if you try these activities and use them regularly, you will feel lighter and happier:

Ear seeds are a powerful tool that anyone can use at home.

During your acupuncture treatments, you may have received acupuncture needles on your ear (auricular acupuncture). Or, maybe you went home with some little stickers with gold beads on your ear. These are ear seeds. What’s the reasoning behind this?

The ear is a microsystem of the entire body. Stimulating these points can treat a wide variety of conditions. Treatment of medical conditions with points on the ear has been used since ancient times.

Because the points on the ear are so close to the surface of the body, we can use acupuncture, acupressure, and even lasers to treat them.

Stimulating auricular points can help:

Acne/Skincare
Addiction
Allergies
Back Pain/Sciatica
Cough
Digestive Support
Depression
Fertility
Focus and Memory
Headaches and Migraines
Hemorrhoids
Inflammation & Immunity
Libido
Women’s Health
Motion Sickness
Pain Relief
Post-Trauma
Sleep and Insomnia
Stop Smoking
Stress and Anxiety
Weight Loss

Ear seeds are a non-invasive, safe and effective tool used to stimulate acupuncture points.

sells handy kits to the public for at home use. The kits contain the seeds (actual seeds, stainless steel, or crystals), tweezers, and a booklet with directions on how to apply the seeds to specific points for the chosen condition. There are specialized kits geared towards specifically helping various conditions (listed above).

Acupuncture is now one of the recommended non-pharmacological treatments for pain by the Joint Commission. The Joint Commission is the principal accrediting agency for health care organizations (e.g. hospitals, cardiac care centers, laboratories). They set standards that health care organizations must follow in order to stay accredited or certified.

So, how does acupuncture treat pain?
The acupuncture needle safely stimulates your body’s healing response. As soon as the needle is inserted into the skin, it sends signals to the brain to release endorphins and directs your body’s natural anti-inflammatory factors to the needle and promotes self-healing.

We are able to approach pain reduction from several different angles with acupuncture needle stimulation: we can increase micro-circulation, release feel good endorphins, support systemic homeostasis, and reduce inflammation.

What I appreciate about acupuncture is that it not only reduces pain, it also facilitates healing. The true goal is usually not just numbing pain, but restoring function to the body so that we can go about our days with health and vitality.

What really inspires me is watching people make simple changes in their lives that improve mood, energy level, and love for life. Eastern holistic nutrition, choosing what we eat based on what our particular bodies need at that time, is such a helpful tool.

Watermelon is lower in calories than you’d probably guess. Not bad for a refreshing, cooling, sweet treat.

You’ll also get 40 percent of your needed daily vitamin C, and almost 40 percent of vitamin A. Another wonderful nutrient in watermelon is part of its cheery red color. Lycopene is a carotene, a red pigment, that also happens to be a powerful antioxidant.

This delicious fruit is also 90 percent water, so it’s a great food if you’re not a big water drinker. And it contains electrolytes as well, for that extra boost of hydration.

Oh, and you can also dice it up and put it in the blender for a tasty drink (you don’t even have to add water).

Summers aren't likely to get less hot or less polluted.

Do you what you can to buy some sort of air conditioner at least for your bedroom at night.

If you have air conditioning, consider purchasing an air purifier for your bedroom. Then at least you will have the best air possible for the 1/3 of your day that's spent sleeping.

Allergens and particulates end up on surfaces, where they can be stirred up as you move around the house.

Make a daily habit of a quick swiffer-type mop on hard floods and wipe down surfaces with a microfiber cloth to avoid airborne particles.
