Apple Grove Cattle Co.

Apple Grove Cattle Co. Miniature, Micro, & Mid-sized Highland and HighPark Cattle, Valais Sheep, and more! AGCC was founded in 2021 in Cherry Tree, PA.

Welcome to Apple Grove Cattle Co., our original page was unfortunately hacked on January 1st of this year. We are starting from scratch and hope you will follow along as we try to rebuild our page! We pride ourselves on treating each and every animal, big and small, on our ranch with love and respect! We believe that the key to breeding happy healthy babies is happy healthy moms and dads! Each animal receives the highest quality nutrition, veterinary care, and more attention than they probably want! When purchasing animals to add to our stock, we only add the highest quality stock that can be found! We ensure that we are going to be able to produce a conformationally correct, healthy, and happy animal. Our mission is to 'better the breed' wether that is Mini Cattle, Valais Blacknose Sheep, or Armenian Gamprs. We are honored that you would consider us when adding your next herd member, please call us with any questions!

Jane Grey of Covliar
DOB 03/20/2024
Currently standing 37”

Jane is a beautiful well built heifer, with hair for days!

Jane is a shy BUT curious young lady! She is started on the halter, but her nervous. She may have the potential to gain that ‘pet’ personality, but as she stands currently she is more cow than dog!

At this moment, without any work, she would thrive as a mom or lawn ornament!

As stated above, Jane is started on halter training, but needs time, patience, and consistency to really get there. Once you halter her, she relaxes some, but the moment you also relax- she is back to being a cow.

Her current owner doesn’t have the time needed to really get Jane halter broke and socialized like she wants her- so she is up for grabs!

There’s something so magical about little ones and little cows! Especially after the month we’ve had at the farm, it was so wonderful to see little ones faces light up at the sight of Ellie and Gunner.

This week has been by far the hardest we’ve encountered in our entire lives of livestock ownership. Monday, we noticed Sophia going into labor, after an hour of no progress, we pulled her into the barn to find the calf backwards and upside down. Despite our attempts of repositioning the baby with the expert help of RCM Miniature Cattle Company, we called the emergency vet. Baby was able to be delivered, but unfortunately passed. At that time, while we were disappointed with the loss of the calf, I was so thankful that Sophia was okay. Tuesday came around and she had drank some, but still was not eating.

After the event with Sophia, we collaborated with our veterinary staff and decided that we would perform an elective C-section on Beatrice. Her calf was in the incorrect birthing position as well. This gave us the best opportunity at saving mom and baby.

The c-section was successful, and given the size of the calf was definitely the right choice. Sadly, Beas baby passed shortly after it was born.

Again, in the midst of the tragedy, I was thankful we at least have saved the mamas.

Thursday came around, and Sophia was still not eating the way she should. We made the decision to load her up and take her to Penn University’s New Bolton Center, four hours away.

We moved as quickly as possible to get her out there as fast as we could. Sophia walked onto that trailer like the sweet angel she was. We we arrived to the center, she had passed some time along the way.

This week has made me question just about everything. It has been fillied with great sadness, tears, anger, and everything in between. One thing is for sure, there is nothing we don’t do to give these animals EVERY CHANCE THEY HAVE to save them. There is no distance, no mediation, nothing that we won’t try. They are family, they are loved, and when we lose them it is HARD.

We will take all the prayers we can get, because calving season still isn’t over. Bea is recovering beautifully from her operation and we are so thankful for that!

Sophia, you were the best girl, kind, loving, patient, and never had a bad hair day. This place won’t be the same without you.

Gary
6 year old HiDex Bull
44” tall
Respectful of high tinsel and fencing, easy to work, will let you easily apply ultraboss no problem, not pushy, won’t approach you without an invitation. He does appreciate a good brushing, but is a bull so we don’t mess with him often.
He was previously used at Hastings Miniature Cattle Company, he arrived to our farm in August of 2024, easily and quickly bred, four of my girls. He threw 1 dun tipped heifer calf and 2 dun bull calves, the last has yet to calve.
Pictured above are a few of his calves from his time at Hastings and here at AGCC.
We are all finished with Gary and he is ready for a new set of women and dun babies to have! Gary is priced to MOOOVE quickly.
