Ok guys, yesterday was kinda rough! A few things to clear up: This is a contest, yes, so ONE vote per day is FREE. It is ALSO a fundraiser for Toys for Tots, so if you want to vote more than once PER DAY, yes, it asks for a donation. I do not expect anyone to pay to vote! My girls were recipients of TFTs when things were really hard a few years ago, so this charity is near and dear to my heart, but we are not paying to participate and we do not expect others to contribute. This brings the Toys for TOTs name to the forefront so even that helps. I also thinks it’s just a fun thing to do. You can vote everyday!

Pssst… It’s Feeding Tube Awareness month!

Did you know approximately 45% of registered (known) mito patients will have a g-tube at some point in their lives? Matilda has been a member of the tubie club since she was 22 months old, though we suspected she needed it MUCH earlier- possibly from birth. My sweet girl wasn’t just not growing, she was wasting away. Her team was SO against a tube, spitting it at me like threat at every single weekly weight check for 10 months. I have NEVER regretted getting her the tube. My girl THRIVED immediately! Matilda learned to crawl, went through 3 clothes sizes in under 6 months, her face filled out, her hair finally grew in healthy, and she even got some color in her cheeks! Don’t ever let a doctor intimidate you into not doing what’s best, even when they tell you they’ll have to call in an abuse report for failure to thrive. I wish we knew then what we know now about Matilda’s disease. These photos were taken one month before the g-tube and one month after.
