Rebekah Oyster started her journey into the life of wellness at a rather young age. She was born with a back condition, so her parents found the best care to aid in the healing process. A massage therapist who was proficient in orthopedic assessment (practice taught by Whitney Lowe) pointed the family in the direction of a physical therapist. Together they treated Rebekah and helped relieve her pain.
At the age of 16, Rebekah found Mystic Fire dance group. It was there she started learning Synergy style dance taught by Charmaine Lee, a practice she formulated from Polarity Therapy founded by Dr. Stone. In this practice, Rebekah learned the holding of meridian points and energetic healing. She also learned dance movement techniques for releasing tension and trauma.
When Rebekah turned 19, she made the decision to pursue massage therapy as a career and signed up for school at Virginia School of Massage in Charlottesville, Virginia. From there, she was able to graduate and begin working with the very therapist who helped her at age 10. After briefly studying Orthopedic Assessment, she decided to build on her strength and become a therapist at Massage Envy in Gainesville, Virginia. While there, not only was she able to get assistance with earning her certifications in hot stone, aromatherapy and prenatal massage, but she also worked with many marathon and triathlon competitors which sparked her passion for sports therapy and deep tissue therapy. Rebekah also came to realize more and more veterans were on her table; that led into her exploration of PTSD treatment using massage therapy.
Rebekah is consistently learning new ways to help others’ minds, bodies and souls. She is always researching new modalities to add to her repertoire. In 2024, Rebekah celebrated 16 years of working in a field that became and remains her passion. She is anticipating many more to come and many new things to learn.
