The Chartway Promise Foundation surprised 5-year-old Charlotte — who is undergoing treatment for leukemia — with news that her dream trip to Walt Disney World will come true next spring.

This announcement followed the 5K at the 12th annual Chartway Norfolk Harbor Half Marathon Weekend, drawing cheers from runners, spectators and volunteers packed into the waterfront park.

On Sunday, the foundation revealed a second dream trip for 7-year-old Summer, who is battling severe aplastic anemia. She learned she will visit Disney World in January, surrounded by racers and families who stayed to witness the surprise.

Another successful Costume Drive is in the books, and my heart is so full!

Every year, this initiative reminds me how powerful imagination can be especially for kids who are fighting battles most adults couldn’t imagine.

When I picture them lighting up as they slip into their costumes, superheroes, princesses, doctors, and dreamers, I can’t help but smile. For a moment, they get to just be kids again.

We’re still accepting donations so it’s not too late to be a part of this mission. Every costume collected helps us bring comfort, confidence, and a spark of joy to children fighting cancer. 🎗️

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, volunteered, and supported this drive in any way.

Together, we’re bringing imagination and hope to hospital rooms and hearts that need it most.
