This patient is undergoing a breast reduction, a procedure often covered by insurance. During the evaluation, some asymmetry was identified. Her right breast is smaller, and the left breast hangs lower, which is completely normal. No two breasts are identical.

Key anatomical landmarks, such as the sternal notch and midline, are marked to ensure proper alignment during surgery. These markings serve as reference points and do not indicate incision locations, easing any concerns patients may have.

In addition to the breast reduction, a back lift will be incorporated for improved contour and balance. Proper markings are essential to achieving optimal results.

Every few years, a questions circulates on social media: "What grade level were you when you had your first Black male teacher?" For me, it was 6th grade science at Columbus School for Girls. Michael Burton played a huge part in me being where I am today. He had a mission of empowering young girls in STEM. He wanted us to know that we were capable and we should never be afraid of doing hard things.

We are in a place in history where this is even more important as a mission. Advancements are only made with diversity, equity and inclusion-- all hands on deck.

This patient had a slow-growing mass on the scalp with a pearly appearance and occasional bleeding. A biopsy confirmed it was basal cell carcinoma. We performed a wide local excision and reconstructed the area using a full-thickness skin graft from the neck. The last photo shows the graft healing nicely just 3 weeks after surgery.
Over time, it will blend in with the surrounding skin of the scalp!
