Dr. Windy Blades.

Life, Health, & Executive Coach, Trainer, Reiki Master. BBB Accredited Business Tactical Health & Wellness Center is a community and veterans’ resource center that uses a holistic approach to health and wellness offering diverse modalities in physical, mental, and nutritional modalities of health & wellness. Our passion is to help others achieve their health and wellness goals by combining traditional and nontraditional physical, mental, and spiritual healing modalities for the improvement of human performance, functional movement, mobility, range of motion, flexibility, resilience, stability, active recovery, and physical and mental optimization through individual sessions, group classes, and workshops for the Hampton Roads communities in a comprehensive healing space. There are multiple options available for health and wellness growth, as well as personal and professional development. All are welcome, no matter your fitness level. The programming available at the Tactical Health & Wellness Center is developed around this concept, and we will meet you where you are in your health and wellness journey. The current stage of development and expansion of the Tactical Health & Wellness Center would serve as an alternative fitness modality to the traditional, hard-core, and hard-charging HIIT. We do NOT use machines. Our preference is to use minimal equipment, such as balance balls, yoga blocks, and resistance bands. Please, do NOT misunderstand, you will work hard in the classes that are offered at the Tactical Health & Wellness Center; you WILL sweat. The process will just be lighter on your joints and spine, with more focus on your structure, core, posture, mental freedom and clarity, and balancing your energy. The Hampton Roads area has one of the largest populations of military, veterans, and first responders. This community serves selflessly in the protection and safety of not only the Hampton Roads communities but also our nation. It is our honor to serve this community, to ensure they are in the right frame of mind and state of physical being to perform at their most optimal levels of movement while maintaining mental clarity and acuity.

The Strategic Pause: Why the Solstice Matters for your 2026 Momentum

In the rush to close out Q4, it is easy to overlook the natural rhythm of the season. Today is the Winter Solstice—historically a time of deep reflection and "the turning of the sun."

In leadership and personal growth, we often value the "hustle," but the most successful cycles begin with a quiet audit.

As we look toward 2026, we transition into the Year of the Wood Horse in the Lunar calendar. In business and astrology alike, the "Horse" signifies:

✅Decisive Action: Moving quickly on opportunities.
✅Expansion: The "Wood" element rewards creativity and new ventures.
✅High Energy: A shift from the internal strategy of the previous year to external ex*****on.

My takeaway for the week: Use this Solstice stillness to get your "house in order." The pace is about to pick up significantly. If you want to run fast in 2026, make sure you aren’t carrying 2025’s baggage.

How are you using this final "quiet" window of the year?

It Is Part of the Journey.......

Is there a reason you feel you cannot share with your therapist? Maybe you think they will not understand, or you are worried about judgment.

If you feel your heart race or your mind go blank when certain topics come up, please know this: That response is NOT a flaw. In the field, you (WE) were trained to stay alert and in control. Now, when therapy touches those old wounds, your nervous system reacts the only way it knows how—by trying to protect you.

Setting down the heavy ruck of trauma is a slow process. It is okay to take it one step at a time. You are not "failing" therapy; you are navigating a complex terrain.

Just know that you are NEVER alone! Reach out to a Battle Buddy, and if the memories get too bad, the Crisis Hot Line! Even though it is okay to not be okay, that does not mean you have to go through it alone. Get Help!

🌟 The Power of Letting Go: A Recent Reiki Transformation 🌟

I had a deeply moving and powerful Reiki session this evening that serves as a profound reminder for us all: The freedom we seek is often found on the other side of the blocks we refuse to release.

My client came to the table feeling heavy, weighed down by physical discomfort, including nausea and full-body aches. It was clear that her energy was struggling under the burden of deeply held, decades-old emotional and energetic blockages.

During the session, we journeyed into her energy field to confront these long-standing barriers. It was intense, raw, and incredibly honest—to the point where tears were shed by both of us as those painful, protective layers were finally acknowledged and released. This process was a true energetic exorcism of old pain.

The result? When she sat up, the pain and nausea were gone. Her entire demeanor had shifted. A genuine, radiant smile was on her face. Her energy was palpably free-flowing, light, and open.

This experience cemented the vital lesson:
Don't let deep-seated doubts, old trauma, or past experiences become permanent tenants in your body.
When you choose to face and release those blocks, you create the space for your energy to flow freely. This freedom isn't just a feeling; it's the prerequisite for receiving abundance, joy, and the vibrant life you deserve.

✨ What are you ready to let go of this week to let your energy flow? ✨

As I sit in the airport waiting for my flight home from Iowa, I am spending a little time reflecting on my last minute trip.

PSA: Just because your favorite people don't live down the street does not mean you get to ghost them! 👻 Especially this time of year! ☃️✝️🎄🌟

Let’s be honest: Scheduling a catch-up call feels like trying to coordinate a presidential summit sometimes. But hey, we all have a commute, a dog walk, or maybe 10 minutes while waiting for the microwave to ding. That is your connection window!

Instead of waiting for the perfect time, try sending them a picture of your funny pet, a video of you failing spectacularly at a new hobby, or just asking, "What's the weirdest thing you ate this week?" The small, slightly ridiculous check-ins are the ones that matter most.
Stop overthinking and start reaching out. Life is better with your faraway crew cheering you on!

The Unspoken Truth of Your Health Journey 💔

We talk about counting macros, hitting the gym, and drinking a gallon of water. We think that's the hard stuff, and it can be if you do not have the knowledge base.

But what if the REAL obstacle isn't physical, but emotional?

The toughest workout is grieving the identity you are leaving behind.

When you CHOOSE to stop eating your feelings, you are saying goodbye to "the you who coped with stress by crushing a family-sized bag of chips." When you STOP using humor to deflect from your health, you are retiring the "funny fat one" or "fat friend" persona.

These were familiar routines. They were comfort. And letting go of that comfort—even when it was not serving you—feels like a loss.

It's okay to feel sad about the comfort zone.
It's okay to miss the old coping mechanisms.

This is a normal, powerful part of the process. Every time you level up your health, an old version of you must die off so the future you can thrive.

Honor that grief, then move forward. You've got this.

While galavanting around Iowa with a friend, I was able to catch the Super Moon in the sky before it got too bright to catch the amazing detail you normally cannot get with a cell phone.

I wanted to share a little info about Super Moons and their significance; scientifically and spiritually.

Look Up! 🤩 Tonight’s Cold Supermoon is the last of the year!

Scientifically, a Supermoon occurs when the Full Moon is at its closest point to Earth, making it appear up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter than usual. It’s an amazing spectacle of celestial mechanics!

Spiritually, this amplified Cold Moon energy is a powerful moment for release and reflection as the year draws to a close.

Use this night to:

Let go of what you no longer need.
Set clear intentions for the new year.
Simply pause, look up, and be in awe of the cosmos.

✨ Happy Cold Supermoon!

What are you letting go of tonight?

Brief Story Time Tactical Health & Wellness Community,

As I sit here in the Charlotte Airport in route to Iowa (why did I do this?), I am reminded of how hard it is to stay on track when traveling. With this being the holiday season, that makes it even harder - cakes, cookies for "Santa", and pies........ sooo many pies!!! If you are an admitted sugar addict, like me, this time of year is HARD!!!

This morning I got to the airport at 0800, with NO intention of eating at the airport. My 5 hour trip turned into 14, so that was a bust.

In an effort to help others NOT make the mistake I made today, I wanted to share what I "should" (I know, a shame word 🤦‍♀️) have done.

✈️ Stay On Track: Your Guide to Healthy Holiday Travel
The holidays are here, and so are the travel plans! 🎉 While enjoying family, friends, and new places, it can feel impossible to stick to your routines.

But it does not have to be! Staying accountable and on track with your goals—whether fitness, nutrition, work, or well-being—is totally achievable with a little planning.

🎯 3 Ways to Stay Accountable While Traveling
Here are some practical tips to keep you moving toward your goals, no matter where you are:

1. Prioritize Your Non-Negotiables: Before you leave, decide on 1-2 core habits you absolutely will do every day (e.g., drink 2 liters of water, walk for 20 minutes, or read one chapter). When everything else is chaotic, these small wins keep you centered.

2. Build Movement into Sightseeing: Instead of taking Ubers everywhere, choose to walk or use public transit! Explore your destination on foot. A 30-minute walk to see a local landmark is a workout disguised as an adventure.

3. Use the Power of Tech: Set daily alarms for your key habits or use a simple journaling app to log your wins. If you have an accountability partner, send them a quick text check-in every morning! Simple, fast updates are the key to consistency.

💡 Accountability Tip
The 80/20 Rule: Aim for perfection 0% of the time. If you eat a huge holiday meal, that's okay! Get right back on track with your next meal or activity. Small stumbles don't erase all your progress.

What is one single thing you are committed to doing?

Beyond the Scale: The Power of Foundational Core Connection

Today, I'm celebrating a client who just completed her 16-week Core Connection program, proving that true transformation is about more than just numbers. While the results are impressive—17 pounds, 17 inches lost, along with increased range of motion and improved flexibility—her qualitative feedback is the real victory: she's experiencing significantly improved sleep and, critically, states that this program has been the most effective and sustainable one she’s ever participated in.

This demonstrates the essential principle behind core-first programming: when we address the foundation, the external results and long-term habits naturally follow.
If you are looking for a lasting change rather than a temporary fix, foundational core connection work is the answer.

Today, on Veterans Day, I'm reflecting on the profound meaning of the word "veteran." It's a title earned by ANYONE who took the sacred oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.

For me, as a disabled combat veteran, this day holds a special significance. I carry the scars, injuries, and the memories of service (the good and the bad)—as do countless others who wore the uniform, whether their service was in a combat zone, on a forward operating base, or stateside.

Service is service. It is the commitment, the sacrifice of time and self, and the willingness to answer the call that unites us all. Thank you to every man and woman who raised their right hand. Your service is honored, respected, and deeply appreciated.

Our commitment and priority at Tactical Health & Wellness is working with our Military, Veteran, and First Responder community in achieving their health & wellness goals. We do that using a full-body wellness approach through healing the mind, body, and spirit.

We encourage you to take a moment and take a deep breath. Let the sun shine on your face, and if you can, stand barefoot in the grass, grounding you and your spirit. Know that you are NOT alone. THWC as ALWAYS has your 6!

Happy Veterans Day.

This used to be me, until I did a lot, and I mean a LOT of self-reflection, energetic healing, and rebuilding of myself. I am no longer angry and hurting, but still a work in progress, and probably will be for some time.

I would not have been able to drop as much weight as I have dropped if I had not done this work first. Your body will hold onto the weight if you are still holding onto the trauma and or negative emotions.

I told myself over and over again that I was READY to lose the weight, but didn't put in the INTERNAL work first to actually BE ready. And, I thought I could do it all myself. I did a LOT of research on how to heal me, but in the end I found the right people to help guide me through to the other side. Now, I use that research and what I learned to help other people.

We are not meant to go through this life alone. The phrase, "It takes a village" is not just about raising children. Finding the right resources to help you heal is ESSENTIAL to meeting those health and wellness goals - whether physical, mental, or even spiritual

Whether you work with me or work with someone else, seek guidance and support! If you would like to learn more, there is a link in the comments.

Mobility is key to quality and longevity of life. When you stop moving, you love your flexibility and range of motion. We are in an era where people are 'running' on the Hampshire wheel of life, filling space and time with being 'busy' and forgetting to take time for themselves. For their body. For their mental health. And, for their peace.

If this is you, let me help you find that. You deserve a long and healthy life to enjoy life around you for as long as you are on this earth.
