Today's Severe Weather Awareness Week topic is....Tornadoes!

Today was the Statewide Tornado Drill by the US National Weather Service Wakefield VA EVHC participated with our hospital and medically vulnerable populations with a quick communications drill regarding a tornado.

NOAA National Severe Storms Laboratory has produced a really good article on the Tornado Basics and why they occur and are important to keep in mind. https://www.nssl.noaa.gov/education/svrwx101/tornadoes/

Other great resources to check out are US National Weather Service Wakefield VA videos on Tornado safety (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5TiTfuvotc) and The Science Behind Tornadoes (https://youtu.be/MMLRNW4UJOc )

You can also create your own tornado simulation NOAA SciJinks! https://scijinks.gov/tornado-simulation/
