Ambriola Company, the producer of certain Boar’s Head products, has issued a Class I recall for select cheeses due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes. As of Nov. 23, 2025, select lots of Boar’s Head Pecorino Romano cheese, both whole and grated, have been recalled.

The two recalled Boar’s Head brand cheeses were sold at retailers nationwide, including Tops and Big Y, in the deli section. The grated Pecorino Romano cheese was sold in 6-ounce containers and the whole Pecorino Romano cheese was sold in 7-ounce blocks.

The recalled Boar’s Head Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese has the UPC 0-42421-05858 and "best by" dates between Nov. 21, 2025, and March 12, 2026.

The recalled Boar’s Head Pecorino Romano Cheese wedges have the UPC 0-42421-15160 and "best by" dates between Nov. 25, 2025, and May 11, 2026.

If you have either of the Boar’s Head Pecorino Romano cheeses or Locatelli Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese, you should not consume it. There have not been any reports of illnesses to date; however, consuming the recalled cheese could result in a listeriosis infection.

If you have already consumed the cheese, you should monitor yourself for symptoms, which include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions.

If you have not consumed the cheese either throw it away or return it to the store of purchase.

Last night Chesprocott Health District participated in the A Sound Bath Event at the Wolcott Ambulance Building organized by Wolcott CASA!

Our Public Health Educator, Hilary Norcia, provided Narcan Training before the relaxing sound bath experience began.

Over 20 participants were trained in Narcan use and learned how to recognize the symptoms of someone who is overdosing. All participants went home with an overdose kit that contained two doses of Narcan along with resource materials.
