IMPORTANT RECALL!!! BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATION

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says drug makers have recalled more than a half-million bottles of the blood pressure medication prazosin hydrochloride over concerns it may include a cancer-causing chemical.

New Jersey-based Teva Pharmaceuticals USA and drugs distributor Amerisource Health Services issued voluntary nationwide recalls earlier this month of more than 580,000 bottles of various strengths of prazosine capsules, according to the FDA.

Doctors prescribe prazosin, which relaxes blood vessels, to help lower blood pressure. It also is sometimes prescribed for nightmares and other sleep disturbances caused by post-traumatic stress disorder.

Those who do take the medication are advised to contact their pharmacy to determine what to do with the remaining quantities, Teva said. Teva also said it sent recall letters to its customers with instructions for returning recalled product.

We have been getting a lot of inquiries lately as to which food products we might be in need of.

If you are out shopping and would like to purchase some food to donate, we thought we would provide a short list of food products that would be helpful. Low-sugar Cereal is a top priority for us currently. Generally, “normal” size vs "jumbo" size food items work better for our clients.

For the non-perishables, you can stop by in person or drop it off in our 24/7 drop-off box at our front door.

Our 24/7 outdoor drop-off box does not allow for someone to donate perishable food items. If you are interested in helping us stock up on those types of items (fruits, vegetables, eggs, meat, chicken cheese, butter, etc.) Purchase some of the items yourselves -or- purchase a gift-card from one of our local grocers (which would allow us to purchase what we may need).

You can stop by any Monday or Tuesday between 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM to drop the items off and we can refrigerate or freeze immediately.

Today was National Drug Take Back Day and Chesprocott Health District partnered with the Cheshire Police and the Cheshire Local Prevention Council to collect over 100 pounds of unused prescription drugs!! This is not only a day to collect unused drugs but to bring an awareness to the current opioid crisis and to educate the public on what they can do to help prevent opioid overdoses and opioid misuse.
