When a family is walking through one of the hardest seasons of their lives, the right caregiver changes everything.

We are so proud to announce that Nathaniel Seward has been presented with our 🏆 ! And this one came straight from the heart of a family he served.

A recent 5-star Google review said it best:

"Assisted Living Services is a wonderful company to work with. We had such a great experience while my dad was in his home. Nathan, our aide, did an awesome job for my parents."

Nathan, thank you for bringing compassion and dedication into every home you enter. You are exactly what exceptional care looks like, and we are so honored to have you on our team. 💛

Assisted Living Home Care Services solely provides nonmedical care.

Watching a parent struggle with dementia is one of the hardest things a family can go through. 💙 Which is exactly why we did this…

Assisted Living Home Care Services just became the first homecare agency in Connecticut to earn the Dementia Live® Certification, an immersive training where our team actually experienced what it feels like to live with dementia.

They put on VR goggles that blur their vision, gloves that dull their sense of touch, and headphones flooding their mind with noise…

Then tried to complete everyday tasks.

It's disorienting, overwhelming, and eye-opening in a way no classroom ever could be.

Because before we can truly care for your loved one, we need to understand their world.

If you're looking for a team that doesn't just show up — but shows up with real empathy and understanding — we're here for your family.

To every social worker who's ever been someone's steady hand…this one's for you.

March is National Social Work Month, and we couldn't let it pass without saying something we mean deeply:

We see you.

We receive calls every day from families in crisis.

"Mom fell. The hospital says she can't go home alone. I don't know what to do."

By the time those families reach us, a social worker has almost always already helped them take the hardest first step.

You are the first calm voice after the chaos. The one explaining discharge options at 9 PM on a Tuesday. The advocate for a senior's dignity when the system moves too fast.

This year's theme, "Uplift. Defend. Transform.", couldn't be more fitting. Because that's exactly what we see you doing, every single day.

If a social worker has made a difference for your family, here are a few ways to show it this month:

✍️ Write them a personal note
🗣️ Say it out loud…sometimes "your work truly changes lives" is everything
📣 Recognize them publicly - a kind post, a nomination, a testimonial
☕ Bring them a coffee and genuine thanks
💛 Pay it forward in their honor

Our work begins where so many social workers hand off — helping Connecticut families find peace of mind as they navigate home care for an aging loved one. But we never forget the path was paved by professionals who gave their time, heart, and expertise long before we arrived.
To every social worker reading this: thank you for being the steady hand when families need it most.

📞 Navigating care decisions and don't know where to start? We've been a trusted partner to Connecticut families since 1996. We're here to help.

🌸 Spring is almost here! And so are some hidden hazards in your aging loved one's home.

When you're already worried about a parent's safety, the last thing you need is a new season quietly introducing risks you didn't see coming.

Spring is welcome, but it brings a few hidden hazards into your aging loved one's home that are easy to miss when you're juggling everything else. Here are a few things worth checking this month:

🚶 Outdoor walkways: Winter can leave behind cracks, uneven surfaces, and loose debris. A quick walkthrough now can prevent a fall later.

💡 Lighting: As daylight shifts, so does visibility indoors. Check hallways, stairwells, and entrances for burnt-out bulbs or dim areas.

🧹 Clutter and loose rugs: Small hazards build up over time. Clear walking paths and secure any throw rugs that could shift underfoot.

🌡️ Temperature swings: Spring in Connecticut can be unpredictable. Make sure your loved one is dressing in layers and staying hydrated as the weather warms up.

💊 Daily routines: Seasonal transitions can disrupt habits. If your loved one follows a daily schedule or uses a pill organizer, a quick check-in can help keep things on track.

You're already doing more than you know. If you'd like a second set of eyes on your loved one's home this spring — someone who knows what to look for — we're a phone call away.

We've been helping Connecticut families worry a little less since 1996. 💙
