Today, we recognize Mothers Day 🌸 and Day 7 of Maternal Mental Health Awareness week πŸ’™

May 11, 2025.

How special that they both fall on the same day this year?! Think about it. Each day happens yearly, but to know that they are both today, together.

A way to recognize mothers, of all kinds, while bringing ongoing awareness to motherhood.

Both of these days are forever. They are recognized every year in different ways.

πŸ™‚ They can bring happiness
πŸ˜” They can bring sadness
πŸ’” They can bring heartbreak
😑 They can bring anger
🧐 They can bring awareness

🩷 Know that you are heard. You matter. You are not alone.

Today, I challenge you to a few things. If you are a mother, know a mother, or hope to become a mother, I challenge you to check in. Check in with yourself and others around you. What are you doing to continue taking care of yourself? To bring awareness & support to this hard, raw, happy, stressful, magical role?!

For me? I am going to continue to take care of myself, as best I can. Continue checking in. For me. For my kids. For other mothers. And I am going to continue to spread awareness. Not only every year on these specific days, but as best I can throughout the years in between.

Sending love to those who need it. Who are open to it. Receive it & manifest the best damn things for yourself. You deserve every ounce of it. 🀍🀍

πŸ—£οΈ Let’s talk myths versus facts

1 in 5 women experience mental health conditions.

Many suffer in silence. Many cases go untreated or undiagnosed.

Why? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

To others, oftentimes mothers look β€œfine”. I challenge you to think of a time when you may have appeared β€œfine” to others on the outside, but on the inside, deep down, you were far from it.

Now, think about how it might feel to then question your feelings and emotions. Is it that bad? Maybe it’s just baby blues? Do I really need help?

The stigma is real. It weighs heavy. It needs to be stopped.

So, what can we do? πŸ€”

πŸ‘‚πŸ» Listen without judgement.
πŸ§β€β™€οΈAsk how she is really feeling. Not just how the baby is doing.
🏠Offer practical help. Drop off meals. Rest time. Small gestures have a BIG impact.
🀍 Share your story - when ready.

YOU are not alone

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

We all carry something, and we all know someone who carries something. We all have our challenges. So join us this month in acknowledging all of it, and normalizing the conversation about it.

Break the stigma and honor the truth that mental health is health.

We are often told to hide our mental health struggles, or to just be β€œstrong” and push through it.

The truth is, there is strength in acknowledging the struggles, in asking for help, in naming your needs, and in saying no and giving yourself a chance to rest and recover.

Join us in raising awareness to honor our mental health this month, and continue to do so throughout the year. Mental health doesn’t stop.

Visualization can be a helpful tool for grounding.

By imagining specific scenarios, we give our mind something to focus on, and we can replicate the feelings of being in a specific environment.

Try to imagine a safe, calm place. It can be a real place that you’ve visited, or an imaginary space that feels calming to you. Put yourself there and imagine what it would feel like to be there.

Visualize the waves of an ocean or the running water of a river or stream. Visualize a warm calming light. If you cannot easily access nature, visualize putting yourself there and imagine what it would feel like.

Imagine yourself as a strong tree with deep roots. Imagine how it feels to be so grounded in the earth.

On Day 2 of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we focus on the journey of healing. Healing from sexual assault is personal, unique, and ongoing. Today, we explore the strength and resilience it takes to reclaim power, find support, and move forward. Together, we continue to break the silence and support survivors every step of the way.

Nature can be a great way to ground ourselves and feel connected.

Try walking barefoot on the grass, soil, or sand. Take note of the feeling in your toes and the soles of your feet.

Try sitting near water, a river or the ocean, and simply listen to the sounds. Focus on the sounds of the waves or running water, and any other natural sounds around you.

Go outside when the sun is shining and feel the warmth on your skin.

Take an extra moment to acknowledge nature and the way it feels to be a part of it. We take so much of it for granted, but mindfully tuning into nature is very healing.

We can ground ourselves by focusing on our senses. Try this technique - 5 4 3 2 1 - where we take a moment to notice our surroundings and how we can engage each of our senses.

Notice 5 things you can see,

4 things you can hear,

3 things you can touch,

2 things you can smell,

And 1 thing you can taste.

This holds us in the present moment and brings us in tune with our physical body.

One way to ground ourselves is to focus on our breath. Breathing with intention puts us in tune with our body and allows us to focus on the present moment.

One exercise is to inhale, hold, and exhale in 4 second increments. Repeat this as many times as necessary to reach a calm state.

This week, Let’s Talk About: Grounding!

Grounding is important for bringing us back to the present. By connecting with our bodies and our surroundings we are able to better regulate our emotions.

When we are in a state of heightened emotions, whether that is anxiety, anger, sadness, or anything else, it can be hard to remind ourselves that everything is going to be okay, or even that everything is okay even in this present moment.

We can use grounding techniques for when our mind is racing, our heart is pounding, or when we feel a bit removed from our body.

It can do a lot to lower anxiety and overwhelm, regulate our emotions, and create a general sense of safety and stability.
