🙋‍♀️Understanding Your Child’s Medicaid Spend Down

Medicaid can still help cover your medical care—even if your income is a little over the limit!

✨ What is “spend down”?Think of it like a deductible. If your income is above Medicaid’s limit, you may still qualify—but you’ll need to have a certain amount of medical expenses first.

💡 How it works:If you’re over the income limit, you can use things like:✔️ Doctor visits✔️ Prescriptions✔️ Hospital bills✔️ Dental or vision care

Once your medical costs reaches that set amount, Medicaid will start covering your care for the rest of the month 🙌

📌 Good to know:• You may need to meet your spend down each month• Keep your receipts and medical bills• Even unpaid bills can sometimes count!

👶 At your appointment you will be required to pay for the visit. Our office will let you know the discounted visit price and any other expenses prior to having completed. 👍

Still have unanswered questions, contact your child’s Medicaid case worker.

🏥 What is a Patient-Centered Medical Home?

At Kidz Care Clinic, we are proud to be a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH)!

But what does that mean for you and your child? 🤔

A Patient-Centered Medical Home means our clinic works as a team to coordinate your child’s healthcare so families receive the best care possible.

👩‍⚕️ What this means for your family:

⭐ Your child has a primary care provider who knows them
⭐ Our team helps coordinate care with specialists
⭐ We track immunizations, well visits, and screenings
⭐ We help follow up on test results and referrals
⭐ We focus on preventing illness and keeping kids healthy

Think of Kidz Care Clinic as your child’s “home base” for healthcare. 🏡

Our goal is to make healthcare easier for families while keeping kids healthy, growing, and thriving. 💙

📚 March Is Reading Month! 📚

Reading every day helps children grow in so many amazing ways—from babies to teens!

👶 Babies & Toddlers: Listening to stories helps build language skills, strengthens the parent-child bond, and introduces new words. Even just a few minutes a day makes a difference!

🧒 Preschool & Elementary Kids: Daily reading improves vocabulary, imagination, focus, and school success. Books help kids explore new ideas, feelings, and adventures.

🧑‍🎓 Teens: Reading strengthens critical thinking, writing skills, and knowledge about the world. It also provides a healthy way to relax and unplug from screens.

📖 Just 20 minutes of reading a day can greatly improve literacy skills and academic success over time!

This March, encourage your child to pick up a book, explore new stories, and let their imagination grow. Reading together today helps build a brighter tomorrow! 🌟

📞What is “Coordination of Benefits” (COB) and Why Does It Matter?📞

Did you know that if your child has more than one insurance, both insurance companies need to know about each other?

This is called Coordination of Benefits (COB) — it simply means insurance companies work together to decide who pays first and who pays second.

👉 If this isn’t updated:
• Claims can be denied 🙅
• Bills may come to you unexpectedly 💵
• Appointments or prescriptions could be delayed

We want to make things smooth and stress-free for your family!

If you:
✔️ Have primary AND secondary insurance
✔️ Recently changed jobs
✔️ Added or removed a policy
✔️ Received a letter from your insurance asking for an update

📲 Please call the number on the back of your insurance card and confirm your Coordination of Benefits information is up to date.

A quick phone call can prevent billing headaches later!

As always, if you have questions, our team is happy to help guide you.
