I am so honored to have the opportunity to teach as adjunct faculty in the VCU undergrad Social Work program. I have been so inspired by the energy and interest of my students as they prepare to be advocates for social justice. I am so grateful to do this ❤️

As celebrates , we're highlighting alumni plus social workers nominated by our students. Today, we recognize alum Jericia Johnson (B.S.W.’97), M.Ed., LPC, of Renewal Counseling and Consultation Services, LLC. She is also a community-embedded faculty member and was nominated by a student. Kudos, Jericia!

Nomination: “Professor J has been the most impactful professor I have had the pleasure of learning with while at VCU. She is not only professional and very intelligent in her craft but she is (also) not one to shy away from learning opportunities that encourage students to get uncomfortable in the hopes of a newfound skill or realization. She is not the cozy, easy-grading professor by any means but one who encourages, challenges and makes you work hard.

“She has challenged me in many ways, and in moments where we did not necessarily agree she was able to open my eyes to see from different perspectives while still respecting my own perspective and choice to still not agree after the conversation, if I chose that. Hands down the only professor in the social work field I feel I have learned from.”
