I can speak from experience how work environment has a major impact on mental health, physical health and cognitive health. If you catch yourself experiencing the below impacts from a work environment, evaluate your situation. See if there is a solution to the triggers within the work environment. If things aren't in your control to change, consider making a change or decision to preserve your mental health. No work place is worth your sanity. Problem solve by redirecting and finding another pathway. Change is hard but often worth it. Changing my work environment has had amazing benefits to my own mental health. I'm a better counselor simply from the changes I have made for myself. Don't be afraid to make the needed changes in your life, but please make sure to have a plan for transition and don't make any decisions related to your career impulsively

Self awareness is the key to being able to redirect anxious or negative thinking patterns. Below are examples of cognitive distortions that can influence our ongoing thinking patterns, mood and even behaviors. It's important to meet yourself where you are at when evaluating thoughts and feelings. Identify what type of thought you're having. Then you can work on broadening your perspective or reframing. But first create space to feel and evaluate where you're starting. Don't beat yourself up over cognitive distortions. (We all have them). It takes time to learn how to challenge and redirect thoughts. Be patient with yourself in the process
