I always recommend to my clients to follow their body on what feels good during labor. But if you’re feeling exhausted or stuck as to what to do to in labor give these positions a try!

I’m often asked what my typical schedule 🗓️ looks like as a birth doula, so here’s an example of my month of July. There were seasons of my life where I had 4+ births a month but as a homeschool mama and student midwife I now take only 1-2 births a month (and schedule more time off) so I don’t get burnt out.

🗓️With each birth there are 2 prenatal visits (at least) with at least 1 postpartum visit. I go on call for my clients starting at 37 weeks and that sometimes lasts until 41-42 weeks.

🕐Some births I’m at for over 24 hours (rarely) and sometimes I’m at a birth for 2-3 hours (also rarely). I’d say typically I’m at a birth for around 8-12 hours. I do stay for about an hour or two after the baby has arrived.

✨ Early labor is the time to slow down, tune in, and set the tone for your birth.
You don’t have to push through every moment — small, intentional choices can make a big difference in your comfort and progress.

🤍 Here are 3 simple ways to stay comfortable in early labor:
1️⃣ Keep moving gently — walk, sway, rock on a birth ball.
2️⃣ Rest between contractions — this is your marathon warm-up.
3️⃣ Stay nourished & hydrated — your body is working hard.

✨ Your job right now? Create a space where you feel safe, supported, and at ease. Let your birth team know what you need, and let your body lead the way.

My first baby was born at 40 weeks 5 days, my second at 39 weeks and my third at 39 weeks and 4 days.

Did you know that only about 4–5% of babies are born on their exact due date. And around 68% of babies are born between 11 days before or after their due date.

How far along were you when you had your baby/ies or when is your estimated due date?
