Manual lymphatic drainage is a type of gentle massage which encourages the natural circulation of lymph through the body. It uses a specific amount of pressure (less than 9 ounces per square inch) and rhythmic circular movements to stimulate lymph flow. Lymphatic massage activates fluid circulation, drains toxins, proteins, fat & extra fluids from the body, stimulates the immune system, stimulates the parasympathetic system (diminishes "fight or flight"), reduces pain and reduces muscle spasms.
