☀️ Summer’s Here — Let’s Keep Your Lungs Happy! ☀️
Rising temps, smoky grills, and allergens can be tough on your lungs — especially if you live with a lung condition. But with a few smart habits, you can still soak up the season safely.

🫁 Here are 7 Lung-Smart Tips to breeze through summer:
1️⃣ Hydrate often – Water helps thin mucus and supports easier breathing.
2️⃣ Eat for lung health – Fresh fruits, veggies, and omega-3s are your friends.
3️⃣ Time it right – Avoid peak heat. Mornings or evenings are easier on your lungs.
4️⃣ Steer clear of smoke – BBQs and fire pits can irritate your airways.
5️⃣ Mask up for pollen – High-allergy days? A mask can help reduce flare-ups.
6️⃣ Dress cool – Lightweight, breathable fabrics help your body (and lungs) stay comfortable.
7️⃣ Stay inside when needed – Indoor workouts and AC are a safe bet on poor air quality days.

🌿 Take care of your lungs while you enjoy the sunshine!

🌬️ Smart A/C Tips for Better Lung Health 🌬️
If you or a loved one has lung disease, your air conditioner can do more than keep you cool — it can help you breathe easier! Here’s how:

✅ Use a clean HEPA or high-quality filter to reduce dust, pollen, and smoke
✅ Keep windows closed on poor air quality days
✅ Set to a comfortable temp (around 72–75°F) to avoid heat-related stress
✅ Schedule regular maintenance to prevent mold or moisture buildup

Breathe easier this summer! 💙

🫁 Encouraging New NEJM Findings on Our Trial Medication! 🫁
The New England Journal of Medicine recently published two major studies highlighting promising results for the drug currently being tested in our trial:

👉 Key Takeaways:

🔹Improved Lung Function and Health Outcomes – Patients taking the medication saw slower declines in lung capacity and fewer relapses compared to placebo.

🔹Safer Profiles Overall – While some experienced mild side effects, serious issues were rare and comparable to those seen with standard care.

👉 What this means: Nerandomilast could become a valuable new option to help slow disease progression in pulmonary fibrosis—bringing hope to patients and caregivers.

🔬 We’re actively testing this medication at The Lung Research Center. If you or a loved one have pulmonary fibrosis and would like to learn about participating in our trial, please visit https://thelungresearchcenter.com/trials/

While air quality in the greater St. Louis area remains relatively good, other parts of the Midwest are feeling the effects of smoke from Canadian wildfires.

Wildfire smoke can trigger symptoms like:
😮‍💨 Coughing
😷 Shortness of breath
😢 Eye, nose, or throat irritation
💨 Worsening of asthma or other lung conditions

If you have a respiratory condition, limit outdoor activity and monitor local air quality updates. 🫁 Breathe easy. Stay safe. – The Lung Research Center

Poor air quality may persist through Monday, meaning sensitive groups such as pregnant people, newborns, older adults or those with respiratory or heart problems should limit time outdoors.
