Causes of diseases according to Chinese medicine: DIET π
TCM recommends eating a whole food diet, in season and locally, and eating mostly within the person's cultural background (ie: people who are mostly of germanic ancestors would do well on a blend diet, while a person of a Thai ancestors would do well on spicy foods). The time one eats and the atmosphere he/she eats in is very important also
Let's look at what causes imbalances with certain diets:
π Malnutrition due to restricted diets or just lack of wanting variety in eating habits, causes SP & Blood deficiency with symptoms of fatigue, pale face and tongue and dizziness.
π Constant overeating will weaken the SP, with an accumulation of dampness and/or fluid retention, causing bloating, loose stools and cravings.
π Excessive cold food (salads, ice cream, iced drinks) will deplete SP Yang causing bloating, fatigued, feeling cold, and diarrhea.
π Excess sweet & sugary & greasy foods will cause an accumulation of dampness in the SP (bloating, fullness in abdomen, mucus in stools, yellowish vaginal discharge, and heavy head).
π Too much spicy food (curry, alcohol, lamb, beef, chilli peppersβ¦) will give rise to LV & ST Heat (acid reflux, heart burns, thirst, temporal headaches, and irritability).
