Anyone guilty?

Anyone guilty?

Runners have the shortest memory in existence. 🏃‍♂️😂

Mile 1: "I feel amazing! I love running! This is the best decision ever!"

Mile 6: "Okay, this is hard. Why do I do this to myself?"

Mile 13: "I hate this. I'm never running again. This is torture. I'm done forever."

Post-race: exhausted, limping, swearing it's the last time.

Next day: "There's a half marathon next month. Should I sign up?" The answer is always yes. Runners have selective amnesia. They forget the pain immediately and only remember the pride. That's how they end up doing this over and over.

Non-runners think this is insanity. And it is. But it's also the runner's cycle: suffer, complain, finish, forget, repeat. The pain fades in hours. The accomplishment lasts forever. So yeah, runners will swear they're done, and then register for another race before the soreness even goes away. Every. Single. Time. 😂

Dr Laiderman and Henry made it to Hidden Valley yesterday and managed to play in the snow at home too. Henry made a "snow cone" out of items from the barn. Couple snow days on the weekend was a happy time for this household! Thankful for all the crews plowing the roads. Hopeful everyone is staying safe and warm.

Well... these guys managed to have a blast in the cold weather last weekend it seems. Dr Luitjohan, Natalie's husband, Brian, Dr Laiderman and Henry, Dr Laiderman's son enjoyed a trip to Hidden Valley together. The saying is, if you're cold you didn't dress appropriately. You must need more layers!

Hope everyone has a safe weekend as more cold weather and snow approaches us. I'm sure you'll find Dr Laiderman and Henry at Hidden Valley again, even amongst the super cold temps and snow... they love it.

Athlete: Coach, I can’t get myself to run. Every run feels heavy.

Coach: That’s normal. Motivation isn’t reliable.

Athlete: What if I’ve lost it? Maybe I’m not built for this.

Coach: You haven’t lost anything. Motivation is just fuel—it comes and goes. That’s why runners rely on habits, not feelings.

Athlete: So I force myself out the door?

Coach: Not force. Just begin. Lace up. Give it ten minutes. Most days, movement brings the feeling back.

Athlete: And if it doesn’t?

Coach: Then you stop. And it still counts. You showed up. That’s how discipline is built.

Athlete: So action comes first?

Coach: Always. You don’t wait for motivation. You move—and motivation follows.

Athlete: Sounds simple.

Coach: It is. And it’s hard. That’s why it works.

A healthy snack option:

Chickpeas are packed with fiber, plant-based protein, vitamins, and minerals, offering health benefits such as improved digestion, blood sugar control, heart health (lowers cholesterol), and weight management due to their filling nature. They support bone health, energy levels, and the immune system making them a nutrient-dense addition to any diet. Roasted chickpeas are a quick, easy recipe that will provide a filling snack or protein-rich side dish.

Ingredients:

2 cans chickpeas
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp sea salt
¼ tsp black pepper
Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a large backing sheet with parchment paper.
Rinse, drain and dry chickpeas. Be sure to dry thoroughly, discarding any skins that fall off.
Transfer chickpeas to a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle evenly with dry spices.
Spread chick peas evenly in one single layer on baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes until dry and crispy to touch, pausing at 15 and 30 minutes to shake the cookie sheet gently.
Serve immediately. Can be stored at room temperature up to 3 days.

Enjoy.
