❄️ Protect Your Back This Winter ❄️

From shoveling snow to carrying boxes and even wrapping gifts on the floor, winter tasks can take a toll on your body. Here are a few quick tips to keep you moving comfortably:

🧘‍♀️Warm up first: A few minutes of light stretching or walking helps loosen your muscles before you shovel or lift.
🦵Lift smart: Bend at your knees, keep boxes close to your body and avoid twisting while you lift or carry.
❄️ Shovel safely: Push snow instead of lifting when you can, and take breaks to avoid overexertion.
🎁 Create a back-friendly workspace: Wrap presents on a table or counter instead of the floor to reduce strain.

⭐ Clinician Spotlight: Dr. Jevinne Khan

Meet Dr. Khan, part of both the Affinia Healthcare and The BRIC healthcare teams! Dr. Khan serves as the Integrated Health Center Clinician and Chiropractic Physician, engaging in clinical teaching while also working in an interdisciplinary clinical setting. She's been part of the team since 2021.

"My position enables me to practice at the highest level of my professional scope, diagnose and triage musculoskeletal disorders, and learn something new every day," said. Dr. Khan. "I also have the opportunity to provide non-pharmacological and conservative care to a safety-net population that would otherwise not have access to these services."

Fun fact about Dr. Khan: "I love all things sci-fi and fantasy, my Spotify playlists are largely metal, and I enjoy finding and refinishing Mid-Century Modern furniture."

Stay warm and safe!

Due to current road conditions and additional snow forecasted for tonight, Logan University will have a delayed start tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 2.

➡️Offices and the Health Centers will open at 9 AM.
➡️ In-person classes will begin with the third hour at 9:30 AM.

Logan’s Maintenance Team will be on campus early tomorrow morning to clear roads and parking lots. At minimum, the south entrance (nearest to Clayton Road) to campus will be open.

❗ Should weather conditions worsen and we need to close campus tomorrow, a communication will be sent by 7:30 AM tomorrow.

Congratulations to our November Clinician of the Month, Dr. Mark Hewitt! 👏

Dr. Hewitt has been part of the Logan Health Center team since 2021, providing student interns with instruction and guidance in all aspects of chiropractic care and clinic operations. He also oversees patient care to ensure the delivery of quality care and compliance with applicable standards, policies, regulations and laws.

Dr. Hewitt is as passionate about the profession as he is about mentoring student interns, helping them master their craft and grow into confident, compassionate chiropractors.

⭐ Clinician Spotlight: Dr. Delia Overschmidt

Please say hello to Dr. Overschmidt, the director of the Foot Levelers Women's Health Clinic! A graduate of Logan University's chiropractic program and its master's in nutrition and human performance program, Dr. Overschmidt joined the Logan Health Center team in 2022.

"Working at the Health Center is both rewarding and fun. I love helping students fine-tune their clinical skills and watching their confidence grow as future doctors. On top of that, I get to work alongside some amazing clinicians who truly feel like family—it’s a supportive environment that makes coming to work every day meaningful!"

Fun fact about Dr. Overschmidt: She traveled abroad to New Zealand while earning her undergraduate degree, and she hiked and swam in the ocean every day.
