"Is this normal?"
"Am I doing this right?"
"Am I doing this WRONG?"
"When will this stop?"

When we grieve we often find ourselves asking many questions like if what we're doing is acceptable or correct. As it turns out there is no right or wrong way to grieve but, grief can feel different based on our expectations, past experiences, or relationship with the individual who passed. There are many types of grief that you may experience throughout your lifetime. If you wish to explore these types of grief or share your story of loss, connect with me - I'd be honored to hear your story.

As we enter this chapter and the new year, it's critical that we remind ourselves of just how much grace we are deserving of during this period.

As a mental health professional my role in the community is political. We are trained to approach sessions from a sociopolitical lens to identify structures set in place by systems in our world that impact our clients. Full Stop.

The images attached to this post are not anything most of you have not heard as of late. They are gentle reminders that your experiences are normal reactions to abnormal situations. Reminders to set healthy and intentional boundaries with social media, or to move your body. They are reminders that hope can be found through our empowerment of one another and ourselves. It is the reminder that community is greater than isolation.

If you or a loved one is struggling during this time please touch base, as help can be provided to connect you with appropriate services.

"I just got laid off from my company of 20 years, I don't know what I'm going to do."
"Even looking for a job feels impossible! Is one job board better than another?"
"Everyone seems to be so passionate with their careers, I've never felt that way, is there something wrong with me?"

Finding a job in today's market can be a daunting task. One specialty of mine is providing my clients with hands on career tools while helping them balance the feelings that come with job hunting. If you or a loved one is looking to make that change and find that passion, let's chat!

The family dinner table, the one place where you can be asked about your relationship status, why your hair looks the way it does, and why you don't have post grad plans yet, all in one sentence.

While it's done with good intentions (for the most part) if you struggle to answer that last part or anything else related to your career, I'm here to help!

Tomorrow marks the beginning of the holiday season. For so many, there is much to celebrate, from Thanksgiving to Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Christmas, and more. Yet in the midst of celebration and togetherness, many may find themselves struggling with grief and loss.

Some of us have lost loved ones years ago, while others are navigating fresh heartbreak or the pain of letting go right now. Wherever you are in your grief journey, please know this: you are not alone.

Be gentle with yourself this season. Honor your feelings. Make space for both joy and sorrow. Always remember, it’s okay to celebrate, to step back, or simply to breathe, whatever you need to do to take care of your heart.

💕

It’s interesting how often we talk about “working on ourselves,” yet when it comes to working on our relationships, the conversation suddenly becomes… awkward. Couples counseling is one of those topics that still feels taboo in many communities, despite being an incredible opportunity to come together.

For a lot of couples, seeking counseling can feel like admitting that something is “wrong” as though it's a last resort rather than a healthy tool. Many people grow up with the belief that relationship issues should stay private or be handled “within the home,” and that involving a professional means the relationship is failing.

Oh and how could I forget the fear! The fear of being judged, fear of the conflict getting worse, fear of uncovering things that might be painful.

But here’s the truth, counseling isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s a sign that two people care enough to communicate better, understand one another more deeply, and strengthen the partnership they’re building.

If we start normalizing conversations around relationship support, maybe more couples will feel empowered to reach out before things get heavy, not after. ❤️
