I have added "a common sense approach to health" to my logo because I believe that sums up what I do perfectly. Got a stomachache? On the traditional medicine path, you will see your general practitioner, who will send you to a GI, who after two minutes with you will order invasive testing such as a colonoscopy or endoscopy. The likely result of the testing is "inflammation" and a harsh drug to suppress symptoms. My common sense approach would be to look at what might have changed when you started having symptoms. Stress at work? A new medication? A change in ingredients in your favorite food? Maybe simply removing a few foods will alleviate your symptoms. Or, if you want testing, for about $400 GI Map or GI Effects will provide a complete look at your gut including infections, dysbiosis, poor bacterial balance, low digestive enzymes or leaky gut. Viome or Thorne offer less expensive options ($100-200). Once you have some information, YOU can decide on your best course of action. Maybe an elimination diet? Allergy testing? A gut healing protocol? Or further investigation by a GI or functional medicine doctor? Most traditional medicine is focused on trying to avoid lawsuits and making higher profits, all while putting you through over-the-top tests and prescribing expensive medication. I believe in addressing the easy and obvious first...why make things a big deal when they don't have to be?
