Teaching Reset + Restore at 5:30pm tonight for Awakened Asgardian as she heals up โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
As I've grown into my adult years, getting sick has become a rarity, which I'm certainly grateful for. I do my best to take care of myself, and with my heightened sensitivity, I can usually notice bodily changes more quickly than others, addressing anything that feels 'off' a little sooner, staving off any serious illness or complications. Regardless, though, I'm living in a human vessel at the moment, and sometimes a tiny little germ will take hold every once in a while. It is what it is ๐คทโโ๏ธ
So after waking up this morning with no voice and a dry, scratchy throat, I knew today would be a resting day. Special shoutout to Soul Smile Healing (Natalie Garcia) for jumping in to sub Reset + Restore tonight at ONE - you'll certainly be in some magical, loving hands tonight!
That all said, some might be wondering what therapies I choose to use when under some physiological distress, and I would love to share them with you in case you want to try a little more natural route. Because the thing is, unless you've been prescribed an antibiotic, most OTC medications you're going to take aren't actually healing you or helping your immune system - they're just shutting off your body's sensory receptors for a few hours so you can rest and not be as uncomfortable. Which is totally valid - I had a crushing headache this morning that I elected to turn off with some Excedrin, so I could at least think straight.
The rest of my day, though, will be following some natural therapies:
- getting a simmer pot going to get some extra humidity into the house to breathe easier (fresh rosemary, orange slices, lemon slices, apple slices, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, and ginger - cover with water, bring to a boil, then simmer - keep checking on it throughout the day to add more water)
- a good rub-down with Tiger Balm on sore and achy joints (apply either a few hours before a shower or bath - not after. The pores of your skin are too open after the heat of the water and the balm WILL burn)
- a little bit of eucalyptus and jojoba oil on the chest and around the throat (a significant amount of jojoba oil to 1 to 2 drops of eucalyptus)
- LIGHT stretching. It's important to keep the lymph moving through the body, even if you feel like it's the last thing you want to do. Sit in front of the TV on the floor, even. Gentle, restorative stretches.
- as much rest as you can get.
- drinking lots of fluids. WATER is what your body is craving. Tea is also fine. Avoid dairy and acidic drinks like pop, orange juice, and energy drinks.
- getting a stock pot of bone broth going. I learned how to make this eons ago thanks to Holly Johnson of Aviana. I use a whole (organic) chicken, because it's important to me to make the sacrifice of every animal count. Get all the meat off the bones and use for another meal prior to making the bone broth (recipe and instructions below)
All of these things will help your body attend to itself more efficiently as you provide multiple supports for it to do its job better. You're not magically making the illness disappear, but you are showing your body that you're listening and that you're there to help it destroy the infection. I've found that approaching things this way has cut my sick days down to at least half - my body trusts me to respond in a supportive way so it can focus on its immune response, rather than having to keep me going through a 'normal' day.
