Our community came together to celebrate Purim, a joyful Jewish holiday honoring the rescue of the Jewish people from a planned massacre in ancient Persia, as told in the Book of Esther. Known for its spirit of joy, Purim is filled with costumes, storytelling, feasting, and acts of generosity.

Our Restaurant Director, Tiffany Benjamin, made the day even more special by surprising residents with homemade hamantaschen—the classic triangular Purim cookies—and by dressing up as a hamantaschen herself. These pastries, filled with poppy seed, jam, chocolate, or fruit, carry deep cultural meaning. Their shape and hidden fillings symbolize centuries of Jewish resilience, creativity, and the layers of meaning within the Purim story.

It was a celebration filled with warmth, tradition, and community spirit!

Our sister community, Otter Creek in Middlebury, VT, had a packed house for an Intergenerational Reading Event in collaboration with the Vermont Literacy Network. Former Mister Rogers' Neighborhood star, Francois Clemmons, led story time and songs to teach kids about the importance of belonging and community. Moments of connection and understanding mean the world to us at LCB Senior Living.
