How can we prevent oxidative stress?

Let's first clarify that when we talk about oxidative stress we are referring to CELL DAMAGE by way of FREE RADICALS.

Everyone has free radicals present. We just need to keep them at bay.

We need to offset free radicals with ANTIOXIDANTS.

Antioxidants have been shown to:

• Support kidney function
• Improve reproductive function
• Support immune system
• Improve nervous system function
• Anti-aging effect
• Protect the liver
• Reduce obesity
• Protect against digestive disorders
• Support respiratory system
• Improve quality of sleep

⭐ Oxidative Stress And Your Longevity ⭐

Join us for this months webinar on Tuesday July 26 @ 7:00pm

We are continuing our journey with how and why people get sick and the 4 horsemen

Oxidative Stress can cause breakdown of tissue, organs, cells etc.

Understanding this component is CRITICAL in effecting your longevity and stay healthy for many years.

Be sure to join us! We will be posting the zoom link 24 hours prior to the webinar!

All this talk about oxidative stress. But can we find out if it is occurring inside your cells?

We can actually test for this, along with many other cellular function markers.

We can find out not only if it is present, but what degree of damage it is causing.

How do we address this?

You. Your Lifestyle. Your Diet. Your Toxic Load.

Questions? Shoot us a message and lets talk

Causes of Oxidative Stress

Inflammation, Breakdown of our physiology, insulin resistance all can lead us down the path of oxidative stress.

But one huge piece to the puzzle is our toxic load. It starts right from birth and never relents. So we have to do our best to handle and minimize it.

Did you know?

• Nearly 80,000 new synthetic chemicals have been released into the environment
• Over 350 different pesticides are used on the food we eat
• Roughly 300 known harmful substances can be found in most blood samples
• Newborn babies typically contain 50-70 dangerous toxins at birth
• The average home contains 3 - 10 gallons of hazardous materials
• In the U.S. alone, over 4 billion pounds of pesticides are used every year
• There are at least 5,000 chemical ingredients in cosmetics
• Prescription medications are now showing up in our water supply

We need to take control of our health and really think about what we are putting in our body, on our body and in our homes.

WHAT IS OXIDATIVE STRESS?

• An imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants in your body.

• Free radicals cause severe damage to the normal cells of the body, which can manifest into diseases such as
heart disease (first leading cause of death), and cancer (second leading cause of death).

• Heart Disease: Several Studies have shown an association between low intakes of dietary antioxidants to an increased frequency of heart disease

• Cancer: Free radicals stimulate cell division which form the beginnings of mutagenesis

Better late than never!

July is halfway come and gone but we are going to press on with feeding you with the best most up to date information!

This months webinar will be all about OXIDATIVE STRESS.

When our other 4 horsemen run rampant the end result is oxidative stress.

We become inflamed, catabolic, and insulin resistance then resulting in overall Oxidative stress.

Free radicals and antioxidants become out of balance resulting in tissue and cell damage.

Think of an apple being left out and it browns- that is what happens inside when oxidative stress rears its ugly head.

The good news, we can prevent this. We can even test for this and find exactly what we need to do to reverse this.

Join us Tuesday 7/26 at 7PM when we dive deep into Oxidative Stress and your Longevity.

How does Cortisol (Stress Hormone) effect our blood sugar?

Cortisol- you know it as stress hormone- you may even think its bad, as it gets a bad reputation. 👎

It is VITAL to our every day functioning.

🤯 Cortisol, first and foremost- its job is to regulate our blood sugar- this is what most people don't know. 🤯

The function of Cortisol is to balance the effect of insulin, rendering cells insulin resistant.

If Insulin is over produced, Cortisol will step in to help balance It

When we have acute stress- this is is ANABOLIC and is designed to get things into cells for energy (think running from the tiger)

This is only reduced from repeated stress, chronic stress is catabolic

Elevated Cortisol (Stress hormone), over long term consistently produces glucose, leading to
increased blood sugar levels.

If we can regulate Cortisol/HPA axis we can then get to the root cause of so many issues.

Ask us how, we dare you

Food Swap Time...

Enriched/bleached wheat flour vs whole food/Grain free based

👎 Refined carbohydrates: a diet with processed flour and not enough foods with micronutrients can lead to inflammation. The body reacts to these processed carbohydrates with a spike in blood sugar, this spike leads to inflammation.

When you choose foods just think:

➡️ Inflammatory Vs. non inflammatory
➡️ Spiking Blood Sugar Vs. Regulating blood sugar
➡️ Gluten Vs. Gluten Free

(Just remember many products that are gluten free can still have artificial sweeteners, flavors, preservatives, dyes, sugar, trans fat, etc.)

Food either nourishes the body or it doesn't, causes inflammation or fights inflammation, spikes blood sugar or regulates it.

Keep it simple. Eat real food with real ingredients.

Diet and Insulin Resistance!

🤢 Western diet is notorious for destroying peoples guts, causing weight gain, and essentially all of the key points we have been discussing to include- Inflammation, Catabolic Physiology, Insulin Resistance and Oxidative stress.

➡️ Diet and lifestyle are THE main reasons, in our opinion, that people get sick and end up with "The 4 Horsemen" we have been discussing.

➡️ Main Offenders are refined flour, excess sugar, and trans fats. We would also add Gluten, Diary, Corn and Soy to this list. After working with so many people on their diet and lifestyle- these are the main offenders we find and the commonalities we see.

➡️ Some simple things you can do to undo this damage- change your diet.

✅ Include more Omega 3 Fatty Acids

✅ Include more Fermented Foods

✅ Remove the main offenders (and if you're really ambitious, test your food sensitivities to remove any hidden offenders.

👊 Want to get tested? Shoot us a message and we will get you setup!

Pre-diabetes vs. Diabetes

Pre-diabetes: When blood glucose levels are higher than normal and are at an increased risk for developing type 2 diabetes, as well as heart disease and stroke.

Diet and Lifestyle and MOST Important
• Regulating blood sugar through diet, exercise, stress reduction, sleep, meditation
• Balancing Cortisol Levels are a foundational component
• Remember Cortisol receptors are everywhere and its main job Is to regulate blood sugar (for energy production)

Diabetes: Diabetes develops when the body doesn't make enough insulin or is not able to use insulin effectively. This results in glucose building up in the blood instead of being absorbed in the body's cells.

Over time, the pancreas struggles to keep up with demand of insulin, Blood glucose stays high,
Cells don't get the sugar they need to function.

Body systems break down

Catch this early and you can address so many health concerns down the road. Look at your Cortisol, balance your blood sugar, address your lifestyle factors and you can take care of so many problems.

The effects of Insulin Resistance: Deeper than you think.

We tend to think of Insulin Resistance as a simple blood sugar issue. If I just cut out sugar or carbs then ill be good- while this will definitely help- this isn't even close to the entire picture.

You also get the " Ill just take more insulin and then i'll be good". Which will just cause more and more of a cascade effect.

Insulin Resistance can lead to increased risk of Type 2 Diabetes. Cause weight gain. Fatigue. Insomnia. Depression. Anxiety. PCOS is also hugely related with insulin resistance.

Why is this? Insulin Resistance is tightly tied to cortisol (Stress hormones). Cortisol receptors are found in essentially EVERY cell in the body. Cortisol over production causes your body to struggle to keep up with the demand, leading to your cells not getting what they need and multi system breakdown

Basically it can lead to a breakdown in almost any system. Gi, Immune, Neurotransmitters, Detox, you name it.

Test your cortisol, clean up your diet, work on your lifestyle. Fix your insulin resistance.
