Some beautiful snow photos of the cemetery today. It was very peaceful. The cold was bitter and the breezes were icy, but I’m sure our ancestors saw much worse in their days. And they didn’t have all of our wonderful technology to clear the roads and keep our homes warm. Happy winter, everyone! ❄️❄️❄️

🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸As we approach Veterans Day, let us remember and silently thank those military veterans of United States armed forces who are buried in Henderson Cemetery: War of 1812 - 1 veteran, American Revolutionary War - 2 veterans, Civil War - 9 veterans, World War I - 11 veterans, World War II - 13 veterans, Korean War -1 veteran, and Vietnam War - 1 veteran. This may not be a complete tally as stones have become unreadable over the years. More importantly, to anyone reading this who is a veteran, thank you for your service to our country! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Beautiful early fall day at Henderson! Grass being cut today a big fallen tree was removed yesterday… There’s always something to be done. A huge thank you to David Campbell for continuing to oversee the maintenance of the sacred grounds. Enjoy the quiet serenity of the cemetery in these photos, and stop by and walk through if you’re in the area.

We have been working on a long-term project to enter those interred at Henderson Cemetery in an extended family tree on Ancestry.com. This project is still in work, but there are hundreds of names already included, along with their parents, children, spouses showing the many connections among the area families. If you have family buried at Henderson and are interested in seeing the Ancestry tree, private message me with the names of your Henderson Cemetery family, and your email address (see message button above). I will send you an entry invitation. I understand you don't need an Ancestry account to view the tree information.

We were notified yesterday that the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will be placing flags donated by the county veterans services on the graves of the many veterans interred in this historic cemetery on May 18th. We are so grateful to them for their efforts. The cemetery will look beautiful!

At long last we have received our official letter from the IRS designating the Cemetery as non-profit. We submitted our application several years ago, but just recently got the official notification. Anyone who has made a donation can reference our 501(c)(13) certificate # 45-5419955. The effective date of the exemption is May 30, 1909 (no that is not a misprint). Donations can be easily made by mailing a check to: Harmarville Cemetery Association, c/o David Campbell, 505 Bicker Rd, Cabot, PA 16023. Or, you can donate on the Henderson Cemetery website using a credit card: www.hendersoncemetery.com.

Henderson Cemetery is an active cemetery operated and maintained by the Harmarville Cemetery Association. The cemetery is not publicly funded and is maintained by volunteers and donations.

We are pleased to announce that the local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts in association with the American Legion are marking the graves of veterans at Henderson now, in order to place flags and markers to decorate for Memorial Day 2014. We love that they have taken this interest in our historic cemetery! Thank you Jim Anderson for initiating this work!
