Some spring fire cider!
I usually only make it in the fall but Thad has been using it regularly as a tonic, and we all use it for an immunity booster all winter, so the fall batch is almost gone! I put grapefruit in mine as a querticin hack. Yummy stuff! I am so grateful to Rosemary Gladstar for introducing us to this amazing tonic.
In this batch I put:
Onions
Garlic
Jalapeños
Turmeric
Rosemary
Thyme
Lemons
Oranges
Grapefruits
Horseradish
Ginger
I will let it marinate in apple cider vinegar for 4-6 weeks, stirring daily. After that, I will strain it and then add honey to taste. Honey is an important ingredient as it is anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, has antioxidants, aids digestion, and is soothing. The cider is spicy and sweet and warming. Aaron likes to make a tea out of it. I use a shot glass. Some people only take a tablespoon. If we are feeling an illness starting, we take small doses several times a day as you do with all herbal medicine.
